Can Anyone explain why triumph does'nt feel a cotter pin is necessary on the rear axle nut. I just swapped my rear brake pads and after putting everything back in place, it kinda spooks me that there is nothing holding the nut in place.

No shaft driven bike I have ever owned has had the cotter pin for the axle nut....but both chain driven bikes I've owned have. It may have something to do with that......i.e the nut on a chain driven bike is not torqued down as much as on a shaft driven bike........Just taking a wild stab here......
