I can't remember how I removed the tank the last time and it won't budge. I removed the bolt on the fork side of the tank but it won't go up more than a 1/4 inch. I don't want to force it. Anyone have a step by step? The last time I did it I used advice from this forum, but I can't find the post. (It was during the great uprising when posts were deleted en masse.) There was one trick that I don't remember.

I am getting interference in my electronics and want to move the wiring away from the bearclaw.

If I'm not mistaken (Tomo, correct me if I'm wrong), but the bear claw itself is hanging up on the intake plenum. You can either unbolt the bearclaw or as you lift the tank, apply some force towards the left side of the bike (facing forward). That will allow the bear claw to clear the plenum. It's very close, it will scrape a little on the plastic plenum, but it will clear.

There are 2 intake cover (aka bear claw) screws, one in the front and one in the rear. Remove the screws and slide the claw downward to remove it. Don't forget to raise your instruments so the front lug will clear (I don't have to do this, my front lug clears the cluster while the tank is pushed to the left to clear the plenum).

Yah. Take the bearclaw off first.

Yep... That was the trick. Thanks for the refresher.

[quote] Don't forget to raise your instruments so the front lug will clear:

What I do is remove the bolt at the rear, slide the tank back slightly until the lug clears, and then put a round phillips screwdriver through the hole for the tank to pivot on while it is up. (I remove the bearclaw first) Hope that helps next time.

My dealer removes the tank to work on the engine. When I took the manifold out to install Unifilters, it was a colossal pain in the butt. It would have been easier to remove the tank.

I was thinking of your install with the filter when I was under there the other day. I too think it would be a lot easier with the tank off completely. I'm running the Jardines with the stock air filter and PC, and it's running pretty good. I don't know how it would affect the tuning if I went to the Unifilter. :???:

I took the Unifilters out, fearing a fire, so it was a double pain in the butt. You'd probably need to remap the PCIII with single filters.
