How much should a custom mapping for the power commander cost, from a certified dealer???

My dealer said $250. He does it manually - cell by cell. That's why it takes him over 2 hours.

If your guy uses Tuning Link software, it's automatic and should take a lot less time.

Not by a big deal. You should have dyno graphs before and after to show what a good job they've done!

Hey dougl, I picked up my bike today, as I'm riding it home I noticed that it is backfiring on deceleration, does yours do this too. :???:

I didn't mention that my dealer hasn't installed any PCIII's on Rockets - only on H-D's. He tested one out on his Rocket when the PCIII's for the Rocket came out and claims it didn't work. I haven't checked with him lately - he may be doing it now. I'm surprised that people with Jardines in my area haven't insisted that he do it.

He told me that the PCIII should get rid of the popping on the Rocket as it does with H-D's with custom exhausts. Basically, the problem is too lean a mixture in those cells at zero throttle position under load. Since the PCIII comes with a setup to disable the Rocket ECU's closed loop under the same conditions, I don't see why a proper PCIII tune in this region wouldn't fix it.

I have Tuneboy and have reduced the popping by messing with the L tables (with Wayne's help).

The PC III will work on the Triumphs but you need to get the O2 sensor connector which I believe changes the signal from the O2 sensor to the ECM, most likely shuts the signal off? Brad @ Freedom Cycle just wrote a custom map for my Sprint with the PC III and had to use the O2 connector because without it he could not get the A/F to stay consistent. Brad had to talk with Power Commander's tech people who now know that the Triumphs must have the O2 sensor part to tune properly.

DynoJet sells the PCIII for the Rocket with the DJ O2 sensor, which is just a box that fools the Rocket's ECU into think it's never in closed loop. In closed loop, the ECU determines the fuel based on the O2 sensor in the exhaust. If you put a PCIII in, you want it to determine the fuel at all throttle positions and rpms.

I wonder if Brad is putting PCIII's on Rockets yet?
