Don't own a Rocket or a Triumph for that matter but have to say I went to my Triumph dealership this weekend and sat on a Rocket. Quite a cozy bike ya'll got. Well balanced.

Enjoy 'em safely folks

I would if I could afford one. Heck, I'd take one of each!

Was going to think up some smart azz statement about The Motor Company. Just glad you looked at Triumph and the Rocket. Think if more people took a test ride, they would change brands.

Exactly what I did. My previous bike for highway mileage/touring was a 2001 HD Road King....stage II, blah blah (what a waste of $$, all the money I put into that bike). I did 25K miles in 6 years on that bike. I was looking to trade up on a new one.

On a whim, I stopped by the Triumph dealership and took a ride on a Rocket. That was all she wrote....I sold the Road King on Ebay (for 4 thousand more than HD offered me for it) a week later and had the Rocket.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO COMPARISON. On the HD...in a sweeper at 75-80, the thing would get into the most ridiculous shimmy...I just figured (well, they aren't meant to be pushed like that)....HAHA. More like they handle like an absolute piece of *****. My rocket is more stable at 115 in a sweeper than that thing was at 75. I won't even get into the difference in acceleration, torque, etc. It is in a COMPLETELY different league. After 6 years of having a Harley....I realized, "Hey...EVERYONE has this bike....? What happened to exclusivity"?

I was just one of the zillions. Big waste of money, IMO. Now what do I do with all my Harley T-shirts, keychains, hats?

I am approaching my 2nd year with the Rocket. This bike does everything very well. Stability at speed is exceptional as are the brakes and oh yeah the torque.

There are two things I have noticed that I will share. First, I don't have to explain the bike anymore as most people are aware of the Rocket and more have seen at least one in person. The first time a "first timer" sees you on the Rocket will be a treat. You will need to remember that it is made by Triumph and that Triumph returned from bankruptcy. And you will hear about their Bonnie. You can correct them if you want that it has only three cylinders and not six. And second, you will consider HD as primarily a clothing chain.

Thanks for pumping me up, as I am snowed in!

TRocket NY...
You are totally, absolutely, positively, correct!!
I had the same experience, and feel exacly the same way.
I rode Harleys for over 10 years, bought all the *****, spent a ton of money, it was kind of fun til you grow up and realize what a dickhead you are playing that stupid game with all the other idiots that think just because they ride a harley they automaticlly become bad a$$es...

90% of them don't even wave when they go by the stuck up ba$tards... I hate that!!

You forgot to throw in that everytime you go into a Harley dealership they think their $hit is gold and still want over $2 Grand more than LIST Price.
I swore i would never play that $$ game, and i never did and never will.. Screw them!! I nevr paid over list and that was still too much..

You can go into a Triumph dealer and get money off list, along with good financing, and walk out a new man.

Thanks for telling it like it is.
OK my rant is over.. I'm ok now..

I too feel the same way.

I have to add that it also bothers me a bit that we are always comparing our bikes to harleys on this site. I know it is not intentional.

I figure the only reason we do it is that we are constantly asked by who dont know anything about bikes are always asking - "is that a harley" and I have to respond

"ah no, it isnt"

Its like comparing a chevy impala to a jaguar xj12.

Two differnt classes of cars. Sure an impala is comfortable, thats why cops and cabs use them. But a jaguar is refined and will eat the impala for breakfast.

I was minutes away from a HD road king and by chance saw the rocket. Never had heard of it before. I went home and read all the reviews and said to myself "am I going to be riding a status symble cause everyone else does or am I going to be riding the best machine made"

In the end common sense won.
