Well I took the Rocket to the Elite Biker Clubs Annual "Run What You Brung" street drags ,setup at the Airport in Deland that works just like a 1/4 mile track, there is a christmas tree, but you get no times, and can run and bet $$ as much as you like..
I was in line to run and a guy came up to me with a Suz M109, and said looks like we would be in the same class so do i want to run and i said sure... it was that or the Busa's so thought since it was my first time with the Rocket, better start out with something of the cruiser class.
Found out while waiting in line that some of the M109's had a special exhaust, air intake, along with power commander, and race fuel... (not your daddys M109 :-) there were about 4-6 of them, it was also told to me "it took around 140 pulls on the dyno to get 137 rear wheel hp".. well that being said i started to get a little nervous, (and if that were true it may be a better race than i origially thought) but was ready anyway to go for it..
My 06 Rocket III Classic with soft leather saddlebags, TOR's, no cat, K&N, and Tuneboy.
First race he got a jump at the lights and had me by about 2 bikes coming out of the hole, i drove around him and won by about 4 bikes. Ran again... same result..
His buddy (who was quite a talker) said his bike is "quite a bit faster" was next...
I was a little quicker on the lights this time but he still got me by about a bike out of the hole, (note there is no red light so you can really leave anytime you want) i drove around him and took him by about 2 bikes. Overall I was 3 and 0, and had a blast. Need to add the Nitrous and then go after the Busa's and ZX14's next time. Nahhhh dont want to blow my baby up.. been there done that with my harley..
If you guys come to Fla for Bikeweek in March you got to check this out. they run saturday and sunday. around the back of the Deland airport, look for signs...
Go Rocket!!
