BigErn has accomplished (rebuilding the engine) what 99% of us wish we could do, on top of that all the special tools that he had to buy that is needed to build the engine he is now offering them as loaners. Although I will never need the tools I say we chip in and help BigErn with the cost of the tools as he is more than willing to loan them to anyone brave enough to attempt what he did. Plus the knowledge and the experience in his brain will help a lot of us out sooner or later. :hammer:

While thats a great idea, It might be better for BigErn to accept a 100% deposit for the tools, and once he receives the tools back, he gives them say 90% of the deposit back. This way the person borrowing them will actually keep care of/give them back, and the 10% BigErn keeps goes into repair of tools as wear continues.
Plus the "tool borrower" has to pay for all shipping costs.
Some people will start with good intentions, but job might never get done so tools would stay in their possession for months on end....thats not good for BigErns tools.

Good idea, my main point is we have tools at our disposal to share so any way we can spread the cost is a good thing.

Big, I somehow think that Dink wouldn't mind if a guy was inclined to dig into a Rocket motor. He has about a hundred bikes in his workshop and I saw all kinds and I mean ALL Kinds.A mid 60's BSA was close to the door that looked original.I'v been told the attic is full also plus another building so he has his and anybody elses hands he can find busy.

Yeah...i know Dink wouldn't mind. As a matter of fact, when i showed up at his dealership ten or so years ago with my '95 Trophy 4 and asked him if he would mind selling me a manual and the tools i needed to do maintance and repairs myself, he was more than happy to sell me what i needed. Also advice was always a phone call away. And believe me, never owning a late model, water cooled motorcycle before was a big learning curve, (shim & bucket?...overhead cams?...ya' got to adjust what?!) as i grew up on pushrod motors. I've watched Dink's business grow by leaps and bounds over the last few years, and it's all because of his and Julies (his wife) attitude toward their friends and customers. I really miss doing business with them on Saturday...and riding with them on Sunday. Tell'em i said "Hey!" Bigern
