At 25K all I have had to do is adjust the idle with the primary throttle stop slightly. To hell with the "stepper", or whatever the problem might be. 10 minutes of enjoyable work about 4k ago and it has not budged since. And that's by a guy who had a panic attack just looking at the pictures of your motor spread all over the floor.

Bigern and me. Next time I'll let Ernie's girlfriend take the picture. I think mine was a little biased.

All right Steve...don't start spread'n rumors around about me having a girlfriend! Although i am currently accepting resumes :tasty: ! What's up with the pictures Steve-O...our two mugs in one photo must of been too much for the no-no filter! :-D Bigern

P.S. Oh by the way everyone, i have logged about 2,000 miles since the repair, and everything is doing great! Oil leaks at the case halves was my most worry, but that Yamabond stuff is the greatest. Thanks again to everyone for their support and well wishes! .
Bigern

Cost of parts> $501.77 Which included outer shifter linkage assy and foot shifter, complete left headlight assy, all new internal shifter detent parts, lower end and both end cover gaskets and o-rings for starter and water pump.
Factory Triumph tools> $324.33
Having the cap welded> $75.00
Misc. stuff (Loctite, Yamabond, Brake cleaner)> $35.00
30+ hours of labor
5 trips to Tulsa @ 130 miles round trip.
If you figure labor at say $90.00 hour, that's almost $3,000.
Scary isn't it! So all together the repair cost me maybe just over a grand versus probably a $4,000+ repair bill from the shop.
I guess what i am most thankfull for is that the paint and bodywork came away vitually damage free except for the headlight assy, and two small, inch long scratches in the clearcoat just above the tip of the front fender trim.

Bigern, I don't ride a R3, but I've been following your story. Very impressive and inspiring!

I'm about to tear into my Bonnie's motor for a little hot-rodding, big bore/high compression pistons, larger valves and a port/polish and some flatslide carbs. My job will be easier than yours was!

Good work!

I'm been waiting for the Christmas sales in order to buy a digital camera of my own. Should have one purchased this weekend.
