Just thought I should let you all know that our bikes seams to be very well built and supercharger or turbo seams to be no match for the construction or for Mobile oil.

After 6000km/3700miles without a turbo and some 5000km/3100miles hard driving with a 270hp turbo, we took a close look at everything (Same oil since the first service. We reused the engine oil when fitting the turbo, since it looked perfect). Every drop of oil in the engine and transmission was drain over a mirror and a magnet to check for any contamination. Nothing! And I mean nothing! It still looked almost as good as new apart from the final drive shaft (or what it’s called in English. You know what I mean). The oil here was a bit darker, but still OK. A tiny bit of fine dust on the magnet. Not worth mentioning.

No need to adjust the valves. They where all within 2/100 mm and all on the plus side. Compression was perfect on all cylinders.

In fact, the camshaft and any gear surface we could see, looked like the bike never had been used at all.

The only difference I noticed after I got the turbo is that it has used a little bit more oil, but then again I have a small leak between the oil tank and the engine since it was removed last time.

I planed to change the famous bearing on the outgoing shaft from the gearbox, but there was no need. It looks as good new as everything else does!

There are only tree things worth mentioning about the modification. One is that there seams to be quite a lot of flow by gases. At least I think so. When using full effect, there is a smell like a mix of hot metal, burnt gunpowder and wet paint that other bikers I ride with (or pass rather) all comment on.

Second is the heat. If I stop or run into traffic jams after some 30 min of hard driving, the oil temp indicator is turned on for about 10 min. Oil cooler will be fitted over the winter.

Third are the brake pads. I need to change them at least ones every season as it looks. There was almost nothing left in the back, nor in the front.

The R3 seams to be a bike that can take a h.e.l.l. of a lot of abuse!
