Ok I am new to this forum, I have a 2005 Rocket just took it out west and now it has 9,600 miles on it now, and yes the stupid Metzler tire had the belts showing. I can say you can get another 4-500 miles out of it. I put a new tire on it, Now this may only be coincidence, BUT 2 days later I have a squeaking noise. only when the clutch is engaged. If you go slow, the noise speeds up with the wheel speed. You pull in the clutch it goes away. let the clutch out and its there again. I put it up on a jack and ran it and no noise ? I give. any ideas ? I pulled the wheel off again just to look its not rocket science one nut and a bolt. nothing

Thank you
Freddie

That noise from the left side is from the Pelosi gear whining again. Just ignore it.

Do you have clearance all the way around? could the new tiere be making contact with the increase in revolutins?

Hi guys I have a 05 R3 very happy with her but! I get a sqeeking noise coming from the left side in 1st and 2nd gear only for the 1st 10 to 15 min. of the ride and only when the bike is moving then it goes away after warmed up good. And she is getting harder to start when she's cold in the morning won't idle and runs very ruff for about 30 seconds or so.
Has anyone had this symtom.

I had a squeal on my left side that went away when the clutch was pulled. ONLY WHILE RIDING AT LOW SPEEDS.
I took it to my Triumph dealer and they knew exactly what it was. Within 15 minutes it was done and have not had the problem since. All I know is they pulled the rear wheel and greased the final drive splines. I know this sounds like bull but it fixed the problem. I hope this helps.

Like I said, I didn't believe it either but I haven't had a problem since.

I've got 16,000 Km on my Rocket. From the beginning, there was a bit of a clunk when you engaged and disengaged the clutch. The dealer told me that was normal - something about the clutch "locking in like a tractor clutch" so it wouldn't slip under the torque. I believed them! I also saw other reports in the forum about a similar sound, so I wasn't worried about it. A month ago I changed the rear tire. Before I re-installed the wheel, I added more grease to the spline on the driven flange. There was a little grease there, but it wasn't coating the teeth! The clunk was gone, and it hasn't come back in the 1000 Km I've done since. The squeak under different load/clutch positions might be the same thing - a lack of lube on the spline. Another possibility is the "cush drive rubbers". Power is transmitted from the driven flange to the wheel via 5 rubber blocks. Some of the grease from the flange will work its way onto the rubber. If the rubber is dry, it can squeak! A lot of the left side noise that various captains are hearing might be related to a lack of lube. It's not critical, and wouldn't be a wear issue, but the smoother and quieter everything is, the more chance of you noticing something else that is wrong before you are left stranded. I know my bike had the recall done before I got it. Maybe half the lube went away with the original drive, and the dealer didn't add any upon installing the new!
