Greetings fellow Rocket Rider's,

I live in Southern California where you can ride all year long, but with traffic 24/7 I am looking for a nice way to increase my night visibility. I love riding at night, but my concern is other than wearing a reflecting jacket, all traffic see is a small red light--the small tail light. Has anyone come up with a nice way to add additional rear lights to the bike for more visibility?

Appreciate any suggestions.

Michael

Personally, I think this is quite a nice way...

(in all seriousness, the topbox has integral lights, as well as those on the "outriggers")

I added a chrome licence plate frame that has red LED's on it. They are on low as running lights and high as brake lights. I also changed the rear turn signals to red LED's and clear lenses. Again, low as running lights and high for the turn signal. When I'm driving, there are now four separate red lights on the rear! I had to do a little fiddling around with the LED's to reduce the intensity to match the tail light - a simple resistor change.
One other change. I can't remember the part number, but there is a running/brake light bulb that has the same running light wattage as the stock, but the brake light portion is about twice as bright! The more brake light notice you can give people, the better, so the couple of dollars for the replacement bulb is very cheap insurance. If you are interested, I'll take some pictures at night and dig up the part number of the bulb!

signwavez.com makes a liscense plate frame with a 3" high scrolling marque. It's a real attention getter.

Lets you put whatever message you like back there, can also be hooked in with the brake light.

Hey Rocket3rider,

Why don't you come out to Knowlwoods and meet several other captain's on Thursday nites? We meet there every Thursday @ 7pm.

One of the Rocket Captains that comes by is from Riverside also.

We had 4 Rockets there last night as well as a dozen other assorted Triumphs.

What a deal and it solves the back tire problem. Bet you get more than 4 or 5 k miles out of those. However it might be an expensive fix.
