intermintent tach failure

Has anyone experienced there tach and all lights in it not working?
Occasionally the whole gauge doesnt work when you turn the key on and will not fix itself till bike is turned off for a bit. it will never start working while its running. Seems to be worse when temp outside is high and it gets high in phoenix.Thanks Jim

Hi Rockrboomer,can't say I've had that problem but it is a warrenty issue so just take it to the dealer.It's probably a connection,ground,or bad unit.All covered.

There were some posts a long time ago about similar problems. They were due to poor connections and/or moisture. The fix was to unplug, clean as necessary, put some Vaseline or other water shedding sealant and plug things back together properly!

The fact that the lights are going out along with the tachometer suggests to me that it is a grounding issue! If the tach was defective, the lights should still continue to function if everything is wired OK.
