Hi Guy's , just a quickie !
Have just picked up my bike fitted with heated grips and fog lights ,Triumph accessory.
Can you advise if you have them fitted which of the two position switch for the grips is the "High" and "Low" settings?, ie up or down( off in the middle).
For the life of me I couldn't work it out when I switched from one setting to the other !.
Maybe its not cold enough yet down here !.

How much trouble are the heated grips to install?

Mine are on the way.

The only annoying part is getting the wires from the grips threaded through the handlebar. Part of the wire runs through the bars. The only other thing was managing all of the new wires in a neat and tidy manner. I installed their aux light kit as well so I had a bunch of new ones to tidy up.

I haven't tried the grips yet other than to test them as it has been too warm so far but the aux light kit is great.

Be gentle with the wires that attach the to the heated grips, they can break fairly easily.....I wasn't and it cost me hours of fix it time.

To thread the wires through the small hole just use a stiff but still somewhat flexible piece of wire to run through the the bars first, then attach the heated grip wires to that wire and pull them both through the hole.

Thanks vonbonds, dealer fitted grips but never gave me the instructions so couldn't work it out.

As for the wiring , they just ran it down the bars and "zip" tied them, so they don't run in the loom ,or through the bars they run next to it.

They are very impressive though, should keep them winter chills from the fingers!

Just recently bought my bike and had the dealer install the heated grips. He said the install is a pain in the butt; which is why I let him do it since labor was free if I paid retail for the accessory. I didn't get instructions either, so I had to ask if up was High and down was Low. Dealer service confirmed this, but also warned me that I MUST start off with grips on Low to warm up before going to High, otherwise they will warm the elements too quickly, and cause them to burn out prematurely. Again, no instructions, so I don't know where he got this info, but I do it since I really can't tell much difference between High and Low anyway. If this is true, just remember to turn off the switch, (or back to low) when you turn the bike off so you won't start off with the grips left on High.

Hmmmm.....I thought you were supposed to turn them on high to warm up quickly then go to low if they were too hot for your hands.....that's how I've been using them for the passed few months now....they still work just fine.

Who knows for sure? The High and Low are so close in temperature I questioned this myself, but figured if he had the literature (or the experience) I'd go with that. I'll check around with some other dealers to see if I can confirm this, meantime if anyone else has a better (grip) on the situation let's heat this discussion up some.
