ok I was shifting from first to second and my bike gets stuck in neutral

I take it in the shop and they say the clutch plate needs to be replace

is this normal

also they say its considered a wear part so it is not covered under warranty

is that right ?

p.s. I don't abuse my bike or ride rough

I would fight them hard on this. Wearable my a$$, that should be covered by your warranty if you are still under it.

Sounds like another pesky loose shifter shaft bolt. Even if the plates were glued together, you should be able to change gears. (Saying that with the bike shut off and attempting a gear change by rocking the bike back and forth.) Also there is a small return spring in the shifter dentent assembly that has been prone to pop off not allowing the detent to ratchet back to catch another gear.
Scream warranty to the top of lungs. Bigern

well talked to the service department down at engles and they said that my clutch plates are not covered even though they agree it seems odd or too soon for them to go out, Triumph said it is wearable part

so that does it I will not longer buy Triumph I will keep my chrome rocket but I will not buy the thruxton as planned after I get my rocket paid off :brk: :kck:

If I was having to foot the bill, I'd make them put a barnett clutch in it, instead of another factory one that is probably no better than the original.

If your having to pay, you may as well send them as message, if you know what I mean. :-D

How much does one of their clutches go for?

$200 for the kit. Mine was upgraded to that because the stock clutch wouldn't handle the turbo.

After reading this thread, I looked at my warranty manual.
I am sorry to say that under "terms and conditions" Number 8 states "items that are expected to wear as part of their Normal function" are not covered. They even listed the clutch plates as an example.
I wouldn't toss the brand just because you need a clutch.

A buddy of mine experienced a similar problem with a European bike.

He burned out his clutch because he lugged the bike a lot in the lower RPM range.

You said that you don't ride your bike hard... meaning you stay in the lower RPM range.

When I'm at 2k or below my R3 sounds like it's going to blow apart so I stay in a lower gear than what I would have on my RoadStar.

Just a thought...

If you are lugging the bike, it makes sense that the clutch wore faster then expected.
