I am going to buy some progressive 440's and I was thinking about going with the 11.5's. I like the idea of lowering the bike but I don't want to throw off the geometry. I am 6'3 and I can touch the ground just fine but I like the low slammed look. Does anyone with these shocks have any problems in corners? Do you bottom out? Does is make the bike feel heavier?

and to add to 3x's questions above - do the forks need to be lowered to compensate?

I have the progressives. I think the lowest you can get. No problems with handling. and no I don't think the forks were lowered. But at your height I can't imagine you lowering the bike. I had to cause I am only 5'5". When my 6'2" Honey Bear takes it for a spin to check things out for me. He is not comfortable at all on it. But the bike does look pretty cool. It looks like it is ready to take off any moment.

I have the fork springs and shocks on my VMax, and they really helped the control. The bike feels much better, ride is firmer, and no front dive anymore. As for lowering the bike, I have not had any scraping issues. When I rode the Rocket demo I did scrape a few times, so there might be some concern on lowering the Rocket. Overall the springs/shocks were a definite improvement. I did lower the front forks to match the rear.

I went the other direction with 440 HD and the 12.5 inch set up, without a problem.

You might want to upgrade the forks to further refine the ride, but my opinion is the new progressives will eliminate the ride quality problem right out of the box. The installation is easy and the most vexing problem is screwing the shock enough to see the rings that they mention in the instructions.

Until you receive the new shocks try dialing up the shock to 5. This will help until the new ones can be installed.

Isn't 12.5 the stock length? I have my stock shocks on 3. 4 would be a bit softer, no?
