i have test-ridden the beast, and let me tell ya, "beast" is the right word. what a hoot!

but the one thing that put me off a bit was the amount of heat thrown off by the header. i imagine it'd feel downright uncomfortable in stop/go traffic on a hot day.

which leads to my question ... has anyone experimented with asbestos header tape to hold down the BTUs? i imagine it would fit under the standard chrome heat shielding.

please let me know. and thx in advance!

Ceramic coating is the way to go! And replace the coolant and get a better oil! All will go towards reducing heat.

I don't git it. Either the heat stays in or the heat comes out. I don't think we want it to stay in, do we?

in a highly stressed race engine the wrap can retain too much heat, possibly cooking the valves. that almost never happens with a normally stressed engine ... much less an overbuilt engine like the rocket.

lots of custom builders and race tuners use the wrap. i've got it wrapped around my sprint's stainless steel headers, primarily to hide their sheer ugliness!

Basically you want a cooler running bike (Coolant choice and oil choice) but you don't want the heat radiating out onto your legs!! The heat that you do have should be translated into power or effectively emitted exhaust!
