My Girlfriend used to love riding my America but hates the rocket and complains of serous lower backaches even on short rides. Right now I have stock shocks and I was considering changing them and was wondering if they would make the ride more comfortable for the rider?

The Progressives are like night and day. I would not ride a rocket without them. You have to experience a better shock before you can areally aprciate the upgrade. Your girl will love the Progressives and it makes the Rocket sooooooooo much better.

Also try setting the stock shocks up to the 4 or 5 setting. This should improve the ride quality.

I have the 13.5 Heavy Duty Progressives. Unless you are over say 225 lbs, I would opt for the normal Progressive shock. You also have the option of raising or lowering the seat height according to the shock length.

A friend told me that the Progressive 440 HD ride similar to the stock shocks...anyone with experience?

I have also heard that once you replace the rear shocks you need to change the front shocks. What shocks are other riders using?

Currently I am using the stock, but have noticed a lot of jumping from my front shocks. I only have 5000 miles on the rocket. Anyone with idea's would be greatly appreciated.

I just put Progressive 440 shocks on my 2006 R3 Tribal; one inch shorter than the stock shocks. A huge improvement in the ride; no more skittering over bumps - particulary on accel. Also, the lower position improves handling! My feet are flat on the ground and I am not leaning forward as much. Of course, the Rivco risers and pull-back Classic handlebars improved the riding position also.

Changed from the stock shocks to Progressive 440's 13" heavy duty.. I'm big but we normaly ride two up so it semed like the riht choice.. very happy..makes a real diference in handling,,much smoother and my wife is pleased with the comfort.
