Does anyone have any further info on the 2005 R3 recall on the final drive unit. According to the posted recall I found on the web site it involves all 2005 R3's up to serial number 216401. I called my local dealer and he says my bike is not listed but the serial number is below the cut off???? I have received no notification through the mail. I have sent an e-mail to Triumph and waiting for a response. Any input would be greatly appreciated.....

Triumph serial numbers seem to jump around. The best way is to have your dealer DCS it, which I'm sure he did when you talked to him. (DCS is Dealer Communication System.. the dealer logs on and can check any VIN for recalls and warranty work). Your bike may have already had the recall done at the factory, the port, or the dealer before you bought it.

Thank you for the response. I suspected that since I had received no notification the bike was OK. I really enjoy the information I have found on this form.

Actually, all Triumph VIN's are sequential, the last six digits of your VIN # indicate the production number of your bike since the beginning of the Hinckley factory. Currently production numbers are somewhere around 27x,xxx total bikes.

Cheers

I didn't get a letter either from Triumph. My drive was leaking into the driveshaft tube and leaking behind the engine. I thought it was motor oil and took it in for repairs. Thats when I found out about the final drive recall.
I'm glad I decided to get it done now, before the thing could have possibly locked up. I'm fixing to head to Deals Gap on it in three weeks and that would really screw up my ride if it had quit on me there.

I bought my first rocket in aug 05, the dealer was supposed to change out the rear drives before taking delivery if possible. I had my Rocket about 2-3 weeks when i was sent a letter on the recall. I did notice there was grease on the rear wheel more than normal so that was the only indication i had there may be a problem. The dealer took care of it in one day.
Never had another problem with it. They did a great job with it.
Dealer was Cycle Riders in Longwood Florida.
