Picked up my new bike 1 week ago and 500+ miles later it's already the most fun I've had on 2 wheels! Wasn't sure if I'd really appreciate the transition from sport bikes to an RIII but now I'm completely hooked. Just have to keep reminding myself it's not as tossable as a 400lb Ducati and doesn't stop as quickly. But power, comfort and presence on the road are on a whole different level.

So I'd appreciate some color opinions. Started out looking for black on black no exceptions. Our local dealer who is a fantastic bunch of people couldn't source one but made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Take the tribal blue special edition and we'll replace the blue parts for black factory parts in a few weeks. The irony is that this blue is growing on me. Definitely has a custom look. Anyone who has seen both care to comment? I know it's personal preference but frankly I think I'd be happy with either at this point. Is there a resale advantage to tribal blue or black when it's time to upgrade to the next RIII!? Thanks for any opinions.

Great board by the way!

Personally, I'd take the black if you're concerned about resale. Somebody always wants black--it's never hard to sell. I suspect you'd have a lot harder time trying to unload a tribal paint scheme since they don't seem to be hugely popular in the US at least from what I've seen...but OTOH, if YOU like it that's a whole 'nother matter because the name of the game is get what YOU like

Congrats on the new Rocket and welcome to the forum. You'll get a lot of opinions here and the you can count on somebody having one different from mine :-D

Yah, I hear ya. After looking at some more photos off this forum I remembered why I like black so much. The blue is nice and I'll be happy to ride with it for another week or so but the black is definately on the way! Seems like I keep reading that black is the fastest too

Thanks for the reply!

You can do more with a black bike!!! Check out Davo's PORT RAT raid pics and take a look at Scotsmuns bike!

We need more photos of Scotsmuns bike! That just looks mean with the blacked out wheels and parts. Well done! Travelguy, I definitely agree with ya. My wife and her friends think the blue is awesome. Frankly everyone I come across thinks the tribal blue is great looking. Especially in the sun. Gets a lot of attention on the road without a doubt.
