Hello
Well tomorrow I will be picking up a new Rocket Classic and I am proud to say I will be ditchin the Harley Deuce!
Anyways, trying to figure out the best bag out there. I do like the the traditional leather panniers from Triumph.
Could you let me know what bags you have, if you like them and the mounting bracket you have?
Thanks!

I've got the leatherlykes and like them a lot for their relatively low cost (compared to triumph and corbin) ease of use, unobtrusive attach brackets, and ability to protect the bike if dropped.
The Corbins look the best though, and Triumphs bags also look better than the leatherlykes.

There are some great bags out for the Rocket. I went with the Corbins because of looks. They are very functional as well, but you have to watch out for the extra width when moving around a parking lot or the garage, and when throwing your leg over as you get on and off. Just something to get used to...
I just came back from a journey around the central U.S. and was able to stow a large two-man tent in one of the bags with room for miscellaneous other stuff around the tent. I also used a sissy bar bag for clothes and the other saddlebag for rain suit, jackets, etc..
They worked really great! I also use them daily for carrying gym clothes to work and such.
The leatherlykes are great bags as well.. considerably less expensive and much more durable, but not as sleek looking..

GSmitty;
When I got my R-III, I bought the leather panniers from Triumph and within 6 months, I too went to the Corbin Beetle Bags.. because I prefer the look over the leather panniers.
Since then, I have decided to sell the panniers. If I recall they were roughly $800.00.. so I will let them go for $500.
They are on the bike - in the photo albums... I am Royal-R3..

I have LeatherLykes which come in contemporary generic or traditional "trying to be a Harley" studded style. These utilitarian hard bags are attractive though maybe not in the knock-your-socks-off category like Corbin's expensive, sleek and highly vulnerable BeetleBags.
The beauty of them is that they're extremely functional, durable, and easily removable. They come with their own no-brainer mounting hardware that leaves nothing but 2 barely noticeable aluminum studs on the fender bracket bolts when the bags are removed. Cost is reasonable as lockable weatherproof hard bags go. For more info www.leatherlyke.com

I bought a set of K-Drive leather (synthetic) bags from the Newr3.com site for about $440.00 and am very pleased with them. The greatest thing about them is the mounting sysytem for the bags looks as great with the bags off as they do with them on. Plus the bags have a lockable quick detachment latch. They also seal the bags with Velcro under the top flaps in addition to the buckle enclosures. To me, the stock Triumph bag mounts look like an Erector set gone bad. Also have heard complaints about the bags looking bad after a couple of soakings. Check 'em out

My Rocket came with the Triumph leather bags already on it. I personally would not pay $800 extra for these bags but they are very big and hold alot of stuff. I really like the Corbin they look the best. There is nothing wrong with the Triumph leather bags, they are sturdy and well made. I don't keep them on in the summer months, looks better without them.

Gsmitty, congratulations and welcome.I got the leatherlykes and dumped the bike the next day so I would recommend a dresser bar as well which saved the bike from getting any scratches.Glad I didn't have those good looking, expensive corbins. Can't tell anything happened with the leatherlykes, great bags very easy to take off and put on in 10 sec.Put the beer in,put the ice on,drain, repeat. :-D

Hepco Becker makes the best bag out there. I bought the three Buffalo bags, two side bags and Handbag for the back.
I bought mine from:
Chris Canterbury
www.eurotechmotorsports.com
Eurotech Motor Sports
1017 Willow ST.
Chico, CA.95928
530 345-7145 phone

Hepco Becker's web site...:

Go to the bottom and click on the Liberty/Buffalo section.
I took my bags through 11,000 miles this summer, torrential downpours in Florida and Georgia. Not one problem, they look good, and they keep your things dry, and they maintain their shape, due to the hard plastic inside. Of course they lock, all with same key.
Here are a few links to pictures I took from our around the USA and Canada trip.

I would highly recommend them, and I would buy them again in a heartbeat.
