i read this in a bike mag recently regarding running mineral oil for break in on all bikes.

It stated that if you used synthetic oil on break in, the motor would not get a chance to wear in and therefore stressing the motor. Meaning for break in you must use mineral oil for the first 10,000k and then change to synthetic after that.

What do you oil heads think?

True that is why the Rocket's first service is at 600 miles to remove the break-in oil and replace with synthetic.

Maybe their oil works, but it appears their spell-checker does not.

Have always done mineral first and second oil change then synthetic after that. Been told that by lots of mecanics from dirt to road bikes so i think that,s the go. They reckon synthetic staight of the bat will glaze the bore up. I have also been told, that using oil addatives like morey,s etc in gearbox,s that have needle roller bearing,s can make the needle bearing slide around, instead of spinning around like there designed, leaving them with a flat spot.(beware sporster owners if your lerking around)
