Finally got my bike back.

Some figures:
7,5:1 comp
Intercooler
High low switch
Low position gives 0,6 bar and 230hp/330Nm.
High position gives 0,8 bar and 267,5hp at 5700rpm and 426Nm at 6400 rpm
All on back wheel of course.
Already at 2200rpm it gives 100hp and 320Nm so there is not much lag.

We tried with twice as hard clutch springs as the standard, but it could not hold more then 370 Nm. Now they are 4 times as hard.

The figures are better then calculated so I am pleased.

The turbo can theoretically load 1,5 bar. We did not load more since I found out what happened with that Canadian bike. Might get new rods over the winter and load more. For now it feel enough as it is.

On low it’s a very strong and fast touring bike. It feels like it could drag a caravan up a wall without any effort.

Flip the switch and the bike comes alive. Or becomes lively drag bike rather. It does wheelies like a S3, just with more G force. What limits the acceleration is the position of the foot pegs. I just can’t keep them there. On 5th, I stick my feats under the brake and gearshift, but for obvious reasons is that not possible in any other gears. The fact is that the acceleration in top gear is harder then it was on first gear without turbo. If you are at 100 km/h behind a truck in 5th gear, you will be doing 190-200 km/h when passing the driver. Forgive me if I can’t give you an exact figure.

The bike doesn’t take any notice of the wind. Instead the acceleration increases with the rpm. In the middle of all this, it’s so easy to handle. The wheelies are so easy to control due to the smooth power. My only regretted is that I did not do this earlier.

A friend and me drove the 1050km up to the tuning company in a car. He has a Triumph Adventure and thinks that is a fast bike. We took turn on the bike all the way back. He was scared to death before he tried it the first time (like I was), but all he could talk about after was how easy it was to ride and how he wanted one too.

MC Xpress will now start producing this kit. All I can say is: GET ONE!

Oh, and forget everything I said about loud bikes. I just could not muffle this thing. I sound like a mix of a WWII fighter and a helicopter on steroids. When you are in a car and this thing passes, it feels like the car is struck by lightning or a bomb when of in the trunk.

I can't link the pictures, so try

http://www.r3owners.net/index.php?

and look at my album there. I'm called Nussekudden. The pictures are taken with a moblie phone. I will upload better photos soon.

What is it exactly that you are trying to achieve and/or to prove escapes me, quite frankly, R3T.

But your progress report above, its density, its precision, its wonder ("dragging a caravan up a wall without any effort") and, above all, its apparent urgency has something... er... GLORIOUS to it.

Best. Jamie

Not sure I understand your question. I just tought this was a forum about Rockets and I that it might be fun to read about other riders projects, since I do.

I don't speak English as a native language, so I might express my self a bit funny. What I ment was that on low it's not that fast but unbelievable strong. Well, fast OK, but civilized. A perfect touring machine in my opinion. It is really hard to describe the feeling.

I do apologize for posting to much lately, but I was without a bike for half this summer and I was going nuts.

Just got it back and I'm full of adrenaline. I wish that you all could try it, since I loved the turbo so much and I wish that anybody who are thinking about doing something similar would go ahead and do it. It's like before you tried the R3 for the first time. It was scary, but once you tried it, it turned out to be just fun and easy to handle.

The R3 is capable of so much more then what Triumph has built in.

Sounds and looks awesome! I'm glad to see people exploring to see what is possible with the Rocket. I was really surprised to hear about the Rocket in Canada that grenaded at 300 HP.. Although, that's alot of power!

Thanks for the excellent post... Turbo.. hum...

It's clearly obvious you are very mechanically inclinded and resourceful too boot. While I might have part of those attributes, is this something that a weekend wrench turner might be able to tackle if they take their time?

Do you have any idea of what MX Xpress is going to ask for the bolt on kit.? You didn't mention if the tune codes need to be changed?

This is interesting. As you probably know, there are turbo kits available for the Rocket in the U.S.

Could you answer some questions?:

1) Is your setup one-of-a-kind as of now?

2) How much $$ did it cost you?

3) Do you have a 1/4 mile time yet?

4) Did you need to modify the fuel injection tune and if so, how did you do it? For example, Power Commander?

Rt3,

you are a true pioneer. The Turbo by MC Xpress is clean, well thought out and symmetrical. It would be nice to have detailed times in the 1/4 mile and costs.

Congratulations to you and your beautiful Rocket.
