my bike has 1500km and the clutch slips so bad its unrideable,,,,abit off background,,it was serviced at 1380 kms ,i have tried the clutch handle adjuster no help,,really love the bike but feel disappointed espicially by the german dealer that is clueless,,,and spends most of his time ignoring the problem in his showroom i.e. ME ,,14000pounds to be treated like a conehead,,i can feel a forearm smash coming on ,would the R3 captains be gracious enough to share their clutch ideas experience with me ,most grateful,

With a year and a half experience with the Rocket and this website, in my opinion --- almost certain your problem is in the set up and delivery area and not a big big problem with the bike or clutch design. Would suggest escalating your problem at the dealership and then directly to Triumph. And document what they are telling you or not telling you.
Sorry your having problems - likely dealer caused.

cheers for your input, will make a log of what is said ,will give it a few days then call triumph UK , totally agree that its dealer created i am not filled with confidence due to their apparent lack of experience,i havnt been doing wheelies or burn outs (not my thing) ,so no reason for the failure ,,,,,,i have been scouring the forum and read a piece about synthetic oil friction reducing additives reducing clutch performance , i will have a look at their oil specification tomorrow as it seems to tie in with the oil change at service time, allowing 100kms plus for the oil to soak into and contaminate the friction plates in the clutch,,,if they put the wrong oil in i will question their validity as a rocket dealer directly with triumph,,,despite all this the R3 is as mad as abrush , love it :-D

Whoever posted this information is wrong..wrong...wrong. I have used synthetics for years in wet pack clutches etc.
Here is a good honest and accurate dissertation on this... http://www.smartsynthetics.com/artic...t_clutches.htm
I would look for a binding cable or the clutch not releasing all the way. Does the clutch cable seem like the "travel" is complete and the clutch is completely engaging?

hello steve the clutch does engage fully but slips even on a whiff of gas, will look at your link and inform myself ,no one wants to look a fool do they , so it will be prudent to educate myself abit,,,,,from what i understood synthetics are not the problem but the additives that reduce friction coefficients do have effect on clutches ,not all oils have these additives though,,still worth checking descreetly, cheers for the steer,,regards

I was hoping this issue did not get resolved "too" quickly. I was wondering what tommythistommyt was planning on after the forearm smash. First time I'd watched a conflict in real "forum" fashion.

There is alot of misinformation about motor oil in general, better yet REAL synthetics. There are fakes out there...and yes they are everywhere. An example is Valvoline Synthetic claims. While Valvoline makes a very good product, their sythetics are not considered "fully synthetics" under the Eupopean standards (which are better than ours here in the US).
Here's some more info... something to put you to sleep... http://www.trustmymechanic.com/motor-oil-bible.pdf
Enjoy! :-D
