New to the board.
Spend all my time on the VTX forum until I sat on the R3 two days ago.
I love my vtx 1800 c , unfortunately I cant stop wanting a rocket. Headaches.

I plan on taking a test ride real soon. Probably a huge mistake.

ANyone have the pleasure of riding both a vtx1800 and R3.
What do U think about the 2??

Welcome Buddy. Yes, there is something definitely ... sinful to the Rocket III. Compared to it, the VTX is... er... kind of bland. So are all the other big cruisin' dawgs.

Advice is: Indulge!

I'm also a member of VTXOA. I have a VTX 1300C and a Rocket. I like both bikes but ride the Rocket way more than the VTX. When I started looking at the Rocket within a week I had test riden one and within another week I owned one. Your right, you'll be hooked if you ride one, its a great bike with loads of power.

Doooooooon't do it Newbe. Unless you are prepared to ride it home, I'd stay away from it. I love Honda products. I have a Goldwing and a Accord Hybrid. That being said, comparing any crusier to a R3 is like comapring a RCA 19" black and white to a 60" Sony Wega HD LCD. (I have one of those also). There is just no comparison and nothing comes close.

Stay away Newbe or I'll have to remind you "I told you so".

I don't have experience with a VTX 1800, but I watched the Rocket III since the first rumours started about it's existence. I tried to resist. I owned a Thunderbird Sport at the time it came out and as much as I love that bike, and I still miss it, I couldn't make it be as much of a long distance cruiser as I would like.

So, even though I visited almost every Triumph dealer in Texas drueling over Rocket IIIs, I went and sold my Thunderbird Sport and bought a..... Road Glide!!!! Now, don't get me wrong, the Road Glide was a great bike. Awesome tourer, but it had two things against it. It wasn't a hot rod.. and it wasn't a Triumph.

I owned the Road Glide for 6 months... I picked up my Rocket III this past New Years weekend and have never looked back like I did with the Road Glide. The Rocket III is a very versatile bike, fully capable of long distance touring, or being the hot rod bar hopper, or for a large bike, it can handle the twisties very well... I love it.. It's a true, all-in-one bike for me..

Only mistake will be if you forget to take the title to the VTX with you

Yo man, I am in Bel Air too! I don't have a VTX but you can come over anytime you want if you want to talk about her. I have almost 26K miles on mine with all of them smiles .

I am in the Wagner Farm community near Harford Community College. I am going to the Triumph Come Home rally tomorrow morning in PA and hope to be home by 4-5pm to mow the lawn. Drop me a line if you want to stop by.

I had a BMW R1200C. Loved it. Went to get a part at British USA Bike shop... saw the Rocket... fell in love. Took about 4 months to unload the Bimer and get my Rocket.
