Hi guyz! Just registered in the forum and like to introduce myself. My name is Senthil Srinivasan.
Planning to get 2006 RIII. The dealer(this is in north bay california) quoted price(3 weeks before)$18,000 out the door sounds not reasonable. Also saleswoman(my second visit) is not ready to give me their best & final price rather she insists 'If you are buying today i can work out and get you the price'. i gave all my personal data(including finance data) for credit check. still she wants cofirmation upfront that i shall buy and only then she would let me know their price. Is this a trustworthy motorcycle negotiation. :???:
-Senthil.

Welcome and glad you found us.

$18,000 seems a little high if that is for just the bike no add ons or taxes, fees etc. If it is a standard model it should be in the $15,000 range before taxes etc. Plus it sounds like they like to play games. Why wouldn't a reputable dealer give you their best price up front unless they are not honest? I would shop around if you have a choice of dealers or at least make some phone calls so you have some comparisions to take with you when or if you go back to them. Good luck.

Plus, if you look around enough, you can come up with an even better deal on a demo. I picked mine up for $12,500 with 123 miles on it. I figured that was new enough for me..

That way I could justify Corbin bags, rumble seat, Triumph fly screen, and the Roadster screen and still be below MSRP..

Not certain I am the best to suggest price negotiation strategies for a new Rocket. I bought the bike without a test ride, I knew it was exactly what I wanted.

This is sort of like a dance. If you want the best price, then you do need to begin to show your financial cards to the dealership - which you did. You are a qualified buyer, and when a qualified buyer isn't getting the price they want - then you have leverage. Assuming you have a price point in mind, give that information to the salesperson with instructions to call you when they want to sell the bike.

Another approach is to locate the smallest dealership a reasonable distance from you and offer to purchase the bike from them.
