Hi,

I just put the original windshield ( the large one or winter model as you may call it ) and surprise !!! ... it is impossible to ride above 120 km/h since it makes so much air at the upper level, just where the head is located that you can not see the sign letters of the road.

It is like if you put your head inside a drying machine at 1.500 rpm, so bad experience.

Going back to the dealer, they have no idea on what is going on, since they alway have sold the summer version or lower one, so they reinstalled it again and the problem is still there.

After some research, I found that if the head is more close to the windshield ( at the same high level ), all the problems are gone. It seems that it is placed to far away.

Changing the position level of the windshield makes no difference, having done different test on the lower nd uper positions.

I ride with the platforms, so the positon is more relaxed and placed on the back of the bike. If you ride as it comes from stock, then probably the problem will not be there, but who will ride that way with a windshield ?

I am not that big, just 180cm high, so a taller guy will have the same problems, but the mecanic at the dealer who is just 165cm since he is completly covered by the windshield have no problem.

To attach it to the bike there is an accesory with an L shape that goes on the front fork. It is placed with the L forward to the front wheel.

My question is if someone has had the same experience, and second, if placing the L facing to the rear will solve the problem, since this brings the windshield closer to the head.

I will tray tomorrow and come back with the results, but if someone could hel it will be great.

Maybe if do this then I can not put the key in the right position ..., let´s see.

Anyway, I think that at the factory they could test the thinks better and not let the user to discover such type of problems.

Thanks,

Try the Triumph wind deflectors or as I call them, lowers. I have these on my Rocket and they work great. All wind turbulance behind the windshield is gone. Here is a picture of them, your dealer should be able to get these. They force the wind up over your head and place you in a calm pocket so to speak.

Read thru the various posts, then you will be up to speed on the topic and probably have all your questions answered.

Thank you for the info.

It is amazing that the lowers will remove the problem !

On Monday I will order this item and let´s hope it fix the problem, since now I can not ride over 100 km/h If I want to enjoy the ride.

As soon as I tray it I will come back with the results.

Also, I have seen in a swedis webpage a windscreen that is taller and it is supose to do a better job than the original Triumph.

I keep the research on this matter.

Best regards,

Madrock, I don't understand why the buffeting is so bad with
the Roadster Winshield, but I can assure you that after spending one yr and 10,000 miles fighting it, I finally put
the Triumph air deflector lowers on and the results were amazing. We had very gusty winds here today, and I was still able to see clearly at 90+ mph. Theres no way I would have seen anything at that speed without the lowers. Best of luck

My guess is the lowers will help a lot (did for me). Since you're under 6' tall the problem is not likely caused by over-the-top buffeting. That was not the problem for me at 6'1" with same screen. Large cruiser-style windshields are notorious for causing updraft buffeting (turbulence off bottom edge flowing upward). How bad it is depends on rider size and position relative to screen, but without lowers some may actually find a flyscreen is more comfortable since it isn't big enough to conjure up that type of buffeting. The ONLY relief is some kind of deflection device below the screen (i.e. fork-mount lowers, Baker AirWings or whatever).

The way to tell for sure is to get out on the open highway and do some testing with your hands to determine exactly where the air causing the obnoxious buffeting actually comes from.

I also have the roadster screen and found the buffeting bad

I have now put the screen on the lowest setting and tilted it towards me .I am 1.89 m tall

This has made all the difference .I did 1000kms over the weekend and felt much better .Most of the run was done at +- 160 km/h
I havent used the lowers because I feel that they look ugly (only my opinion)

The beast is now on 3000 km and getting better all the time

Regards

Harty

Yes a new lid may take away some of the noise and discomfort, but the wind is still banging on it just as much and will still cause some fatigue though perhaps not as much. Deflecting the turbulence that is causing the buffeting in the first place is a much preferable solution as you will see when you get the lowers on. I can now wear Shoei Cruz (shorty) in warm weather about as comfortably as a Nolan N100 (full flipface), but before lowers the updraft blast at highway speed would very shortly have my eyes watering without a face shield.

Not sure I understand the problem. I use the Triumph summer screen, and have no buffeting regardless of the speed I travel, and I've had the Rocket over 130 mph, and routinely cruise at over 80mph (when no police are around. . .)

I'm 5'9" tall and sit fairly upright. The rake of the summer screen sends the winds over my head with no problem, and yet allows me unobstructed vision, e.g., my eyes are above the top of the screen.

ride on
