and while the black and red paintwork with gold coachstrips looked a class act, the seat and floor boards felt comfortable, I can't say much for the handlebars. Oh sure, they come back some more than the originals but the angle of the pull backs had my wrists sitting at their maximum cocked angle in relation to the arms. Although untested but knowing the state of my decaying joints, I would guess that this will give me some serious wrist pain after an hour or two in the saddle. Much better the old bars with Rivco Risers me thinks! Can any owners of the Classic comment on this or is it just me? Davo

Actually pullback bars are preferred for their comfort by many riders, but I agree with you. They take a slightly different grasp to be comfy, a grasp which does not lend itself quite so well to bikes with eyeball-squashing acceleration like the Rocket.

I considered putting my oem Road King bar on the Rocket (it's a wide touring bar with very moderate pullback) which I'd replaced on the RK with a slightly taller one. It'd be ideal height-wise since the Rocket has a taller fork. But decided against because I'd probably need a backrest with it. That's the solution at least one owner here took, but I don't like backrests except on long trips.

I agree it doesn't appear to be the most desirable angle however I just turned 3000 miles on my Classic yesterday and haven't had any noticeable discomfort. I find both the seat and handlebars fit me well. My throttle hand would get stiff on longer rides however I have installed the Throttlemeister and that helps a lot. Floorboards seem to be at a good angle also.

I have clocked up 600k's on the Classic and have found the pull back bars one of the benefits IE for an old fella with stiff joints. The floor boards were a different story to start with but now find them very comfortable as there are a 101 different positions to plant your feet.

They way Dave described it, my guess is the dealer setup lackey did not set height correctly. Pullback bars should put wrists at a comfortable angle if adjusted to the right position for the rider.

Yeah,

The Classic bars are pulled back a bit more, they look the same if you just casually glance, but they are different. I have put about 1000 miles on my Red/White Classic and like the position of the bars on my beauty.
