Figures just released on www.mcnews.com.au show Triumph having far-and-away the largest percentage sales increase in Australia of the major road bike brands in the YTD comparisons for 2005 and 2006. Triumphs percentage increase of a staggering 88% was only bettered by the Korean Hyosung mftr and a couple of scooter mftrs.

Great news for Triumph and shows that they are doing something right! Davo

That is great news. I know in Maryland I am seeing quite a few more Trumpets on the road. A few years ago I would get very excited if I passed another Triumph but now it isn't as rare and special an occasion.

ok
as has been pointed out I am the snake (Asp) that came out of the hole. If sales are so great in the US why is Brady out and Kennedy in?

Davo, should we take it that was the increase in Australia sales?

I know that sales are up most everywhere (the occasional lurking troll to the contrary), but surely they don't have the capacity yet to nearly double sales worldwide in one year? :-)

Well we do know there are many out there that bought bonnies, sprints, or speed trips, and then decided to get the Rocket too... :-D

Sorry, should have mentioned that these stats are for Australia. The actual sales where 430 YTD for last year and 811 YTD 2006. This places Triumph 6th overall after Hon, HD, Yam, Suz and Kaw. Ducati and BMW were about 9thand 10th in the rankings with sales for 2006 at 340 and 329 respectively.

The YTD figures of the top six are:

Honda 1572
Harley 1239
Yamaha 1185
Suzuki 1147
Kawasaki 895
Triumph 811.

Bare in mind that these figures are only for the road bike market segment. It is clear that with the intro of models like the new D675 that Triumph could easily knock off a couple of the oriental brands before too long.

I would bet the only limiting factor to the number sold is that the factory can't produce them and get them to the dealers fast enough.

Selfishly I hope Triumph stays niche. I enjoy the exclusivity factor as much as the rest of the Rocket allure.

What a delicious dilemma for any retail company to have.
