Hey Steve... does your bike pop on deceleration after you put the TuneBoy in? You still don't have the Power Commander installed, do you??

We just got the TuneBoy setup here and are just now starting to play with it. Tacker may be frustrated that there are few custom tunes to be had.... it will be awhile, we might be able to make some sense out of this week and next weekend :hammer:

I think Tacker's question was answered over at the r3.net site. He was wondering about differences between the stock tunes.

And ditto SteveRed what Tom asked. I have loaded your dynotuned tune into my Rocket and it definitly has more power and is smoother through out the RPM range however Tom and I can't figure out how to eliminate the exhaust popping on decel.

Sorry about the confusion Pig9r is right he answered my question on R3 net I don't think you will ever get rid of the popping on the overrun. I have had 13 hinckley Triumph's and i have had TOR pipes on all but 2 and they all Popped some worse than others You don't hear the popping with the standard pipes but it is still there. I have standard pipes with cat bypass and that does it but not much

I would think with the Tuneboy you can eliminate the popping since you can control the A/F ratio to your hearts content.

You are correct however now there is a catch 22. When you lower the a/f below 14.57 in the small throttle positions and rpm ranges you run the risk of irratic idling because the bike leaves closed loop mode. I did lower the a/f targets in this area and the idle dropped a 100 or so RPMs. I might try it again and seen what happens. All is not lost though because you can add fuel to the closed throttle position in the actual fuel maps so I think that may be the route to go.

Tom's bike has the PCIII and it doesn't pop at all. I tried overlaying a PCIII map into the fuel trim map however that didn't help.

Hopefully with some time and experimenting there will be some good tunes out there.

Supposedly the reason (given on this forum) for backfiring in the pipes on decel is freer flowing pipes which produces too lean a mixture. I'm told this happens on all Hardleys with straight pipes.

I am told that all you have to do is fatten up the mixture (trim) at zero throttle under load to get rid of the popping and that the PCIII lets you do this with the fuel trim.

Shouldn't you be able to change the fuel trim in these cells with Tuneboy?

Ohhh Mr. Vonbonds....

One thing we should be able to do is tune the larger throttle openings for FUEL ECONOMY.... It's gonna take a bit though so be patient. We have a learning curve to go through and we are just taking our first little baby steps :-D

It's too bad we didn't get this last winter... we would have had all the time in the world to play with it.

Unless we can find a way around the 14.57 A/F ratio on about a third of the map getting rid of the popping with the TuneBoy might be just a dream. I'm a little disappointed that so much of the fuel mapping curve is "locked" up so to speak, that was supposed to be a big part of the TuneBoy advantage and initially it seems we can't use it. But I may be waaaay premature.
