Has anyone else had problems mounting a Corbin seat? I know I remember seeing a few Corbin seats in the gallery.

The bracket that came with the Rumbleseat was way off for me. I called Corbin and was told that I needed to ream out my mounting brackets to make it fit. He said that during bike week they did that frequently for the Rocket.

After telling the guy that I shouldn't have to do any machining on something that cost over $600 he agreed to send me a new bracket that is 1/4 inch different in the location of the holes. (Yes mine was off by almost 1/4 inch!)

I will post a followup on the bracket when I get it. I really hope this one works otherwise my bike will only get cleaned twice a year due to what a pain it is to get the seat back on.

I ground mine off so the bracket put the holes about 1/8 of inch back and that did it.

I realize that you shouldn't have to grind on a bracket for a seat that cost this much, but since I already have the seat and the tools to do it, I didn't see any sense in calling them or waiting on another bracket. It took five mintutes and works like a charm now..

Same here... had to modify the bracket myself.

And I agree, for that kind of money, Corbin should be able to get it right.

Night;

Me too... I bought my corbin nearly 1 year ago, and told them about that then..they didn't do anything about it.. just ignored my comments.
I think the guys said I wasn't holding my tongue in the right direction while installing the seat / bracket.

I thought it was just me. Tooling was off on both the seats I got for the R3 and the Bonne. The great mechanic that did my 10k mile service did a little customizing to make it easier to get on and off the R3. I too scratched the rear fender before it was all over. It is ***** comfortable though.

The instructions say the fit will be very tight at first until the seat breaks in, but that is not true.

I put about 1,000 miles on mine before I modified the bracket and it did not get any easier to take off or put on. So I cut down the bracket to fit like it should and it works great now. I should make a mold of my bracket now and send it to them so they can make them all this way, atleast for the rumble seat...

That is only assuming that the holes where the brackets are attached to the seat are located properly each time.

The brackets should come with holes already elongated, or multiple holes, to accomodate an easier fit each time. My dual tour brackets had three holes, two to attach the bracket to the seat and one to attach the seat to the bracket Corbin provided for seat attachment to the bike. Getting all those lined up properly on every seat for each Rocket would require extremely good and accurate quality control.

I had to elongate my bracket holes 1/4 inch also, in increments of 1/6th inch. Throughout the ordeal I cursed Corbin over and over again.

Then I got on the seat, turned on the heat, and gave forgiveness! :-D :wink:

I did exactly the same thing yesterday when I got my rumble seat in the mail. After an hour of fumbling around, I wedged a tool under the bracket and forced the bracket up to the seat bracket. It adjusted real easy and I felt stupid for not trying that first.
