What happens if your take the stock pipes off and remove the cat, and then put the bypass and TORs on without changing the tune in the ECU?

Thanks.

Yeah, you'll backfire a bit without the tune... and you'll backfire a bit with the tune.

I didn't see much difference and might not have done the re-tune. I'd saved the $50 the dealer charges.

If you install the cat-bypass and TORs without a richer tune your taking a chance of running the engine lean and doing damage. Lean burn engines run hot.
I had 3 K&Ns, cat-bypass and TORs with the 20056 tune. When dynoed, I was informed by the tech I was on the lean danger line. If I installed the richest tune, 20054, I would have been OK.
At least find a dealer with an exhaust sniffer unit that will detect the fuel/air mix and have it checked. If your cooling fan comes on often that is also an indicator. So is a gowing red exhaust manifold.
50 bucks for a richer tune is a lot cheaper than a blown engine.

I would say you would be best served by putting on a Tuneboy modified tune and you will really be getting the best out of your bike with the new set up!
