Mine fatigued and broke off.

Thankfully while I was just pulling up to the pump at a gas station. That would have made a mess if it had broken while at highway speeds!

Has anyone else had the same problem?

Ken

edit:

BTW...I'm now looking for a side mounted holder .. plain, but not home-made looking. I think in California, it must be illuminated also.

I took my bike to the dealer to get a new set of tires put on at around 6K. They didn't quite jack the bike up high enough and were trying to man handle the tire out from under it. They bent up the license plate a bit. I just take the wheel to them now . I wonder if yours was hurt in a similar fashion.

Vonbonds,

Not that I'm aware of, but possible I suppose. I actually think it's from vibration and fatigue.

Try newr3

side mount license plate

It does need to be illuminated in cal but who cares....very unlikely to get nailed for that.

License plate bracket does seem rather flimsy. With the amount of vibration it endures breakage is a possibility.

My older single cylinder Honda's used slightly thicker metal than the Rocket and show signs of fatigue.

My Rocket with 5000mi shows no sign of fatigue.

Yep I think the guy I bought my R3 from had it happen at speed, got cought in the rear wheel and mangled the rear fender. (all replaced by Triumph).

A mate was stopped recently and warned about his side mounted plate, CHP said it was illegal as the plate was not visible from both rear quarters ?.

Haket2000,

Wow. I never considered it being illegal. I'll check into whether that's a non-enforced law or not.

Thanks for the feedback.

Impatient, here presents the perfect opportunity to rectify and update all at the same time by purchasing the Rivco license plate relocation kit, part no. TR3105.
