It appears Tuneboy for the Rocket is ready for sales worldwide now.

Ordered one yesterday, they are going to ship it air mail by the end of the week. They are flooded with orders so don't wait too long if you want one. :hammer:

So does everyone have DynoJet dyno tuners that can deal with this?

dougl, I don't think there is much of a need to dyno tune. I think the tunes offerred will get you well into the ballpark. Maybe a few tweeks here and there in the trim tables will dial you in even closer. With the TuneBoy data logger function and a way to measure air/fuel you can get just about as precise.

In addition the more people that get Tuneboy and experiment with the maps, the more tunes will be out there for all to try.

Wayne dyno tuned SteveRed's bike and produced a custom map. I wouldn't mind getting a holt of that, assuming he has the same exhaust I do. The maps on the Tuneboy web site are all Triumph stock tunes for various exhaust configurations. That's not going to help much.

In one of Wayne's examples, he did 24 runs on the dyno. I don't see how I can duplicate this with tweeking. Nor can I measure F/A.

I think the tunes on the TuneBoy website are not stock Triumph tunes. If they are I hope they send the lasted ones with the TuneBoy cable and program. I have tried to load the new tunes into TunEdit on my computer but it doesn't recognize them as TB programs so maybe there is another version of TB that comes with it also?

As you can see on the site they are all based on the 20050 Triumph tune which Wayne said was the best Triumph tune. I assume Wayne looked at each tune and ironed out flat spots, lowered a/f ratios to optimum levels and had the secondaries remain open continuous. He has mentioned also that there were different ignition maps in the first few gears that 'detuned' the engine so I would also assume that was corrected. And as SteveRed has stated it's a vast improvement over stock.

Quoted from the TB site:
Quote:
By adjusting the Air/Fuel targets that the ECU uses we can get the 12.8/1 required for best power without spending hours on a dyno, and will have a system that works well under all conditions.
Another benefit of using one of Wayne's tunes is that he has already done the work. The difference between someone running Staintune, Jardines, Maddogs, TORs etc isn't going to be measurable. They are all less restrictive. However I am anticipating some adjustments for the under tank filter mod I have. I will probably lower the a/f trim a percent or so to make up for the increased air entering the engine. That's the great thing about TuneBoy, a little understanding about what an engine needs and you can do it yourself.

It will be just a matter of time before many variations of those tunes show up and get swapped. That's the beauty; load it, ride it, and if you don't like it put the previous one back in.

From the page with the tunes on it:

"This is a list of the latest tunes released by Triumph. Many of the Triumph tunes share a common program part and only differ in the map overlay that is loaded into the ECU. This is why I have included a field called "Base Tune". This is the common program code that the tune uses."

The descriptions of the exhaust systems for each Rocket tune are the same as those given by Triumph.

Its got me puzzled now. I would think that those would be improved upon tunes and not just the stock tunes. Maybe a good question to ask Wayne.

There's a Tuneboy/SteveRed thread which shows that Wayne got a really nice power curve using the stock 20050 tune on Steve's bike, almost as good as a custom 20050 tune.

I'm just not sure what exhaust configuration Steve had.

Ok, got a reply from Wayne on t595.net.

Quote:
You can download a TuneEdit that will read the tunes from this link
http://www.tuneboy.com.au/TuneDownloads/TE.zip
The one on the CD will have a few other changes but it is close enough.
You will be able to download standard and modified tunes, the ones listed at the moment are just the standard tunes.
We will include modified tunes on the CD.
I loaded one of the new Rocket tunes listed on the site and it defintely is a stock like tune. By looking at the a/f tab it operates in closed loop a fair chunk of the time.
