Last weekend I performed the chore of rotating my clothing wardrobe for summer. This action drove an inventory of footwear, which led to a comment from the wife about the black streaks or rub marks on the my left shoes. And the comment drove a big ear to ear grin, well you folks understand the grin relating the marks to the time spent on the Rocket.

As indicated by wear,

- US Army Insulated high top boots
- Square toe black boots
- mid ankle rough out shoes
- LL Bean water proof boot
- LL Bean slip on

As comfortable as my Army boots are, I have to continually be aware of the thickness of the sole. The next purchase will be more official bike boots, i.e. steel toes, thinner sole, extra padding on shifter level.

What are you wearing on your feet?

I have a pair of Triumph Tritech Boots and love them. I just leave them on when I arrive at work as they are quite comfortable.

I beleive mine are what you call hiking shoes/boots. They have steel toe and a bit thicker sole and walk like a tennis shoe. But at end of day at a rally they can feel pretty heavy. I have been lookin at that Triumph shoe also. Thinking I might try one on next weekend. But the hiking boot I wear is a $29 Wally World special. And just doesn't seem to wear out. I beleive that Triumph one is $100 or more.

No problem man. My brother lives in Levittown so you aren't too far away from him.

BEST value I've found in boots specifically aimed at motorcycling with features like shifter pad etc are the GuideGear brand from Sportsman's Guide (note they make many GuideGear boots NOT for bikes too, so if you go to www.sportsmansguide.com be sure to search accordingly).

Even for summer riding I prefer moderately tall boots so that ankle and calf have some protection. Another feature to look for is velcro-closing uppers on taller boots. Makes them much easier to get on and off.

Medium-heel 'n height, roundish-shaped (somewhat odd ' 50 British "engineer boot "- style), Triumph '06 riding boots. See Triumph's current catalogue. Made in Slovakia. Rugged. Solid, quasi motocross-type, soles. Waterproof. But so incredibly easy to fit and so soft and comfortable inside. Highly recommended.

I have two pair of the cruiserworks side zip touring boots. Very happy with them....well...that is why I have two pair. I had to get the first set resoled so I bought another pair to wear while I waited for the original to return in the mail.

They are good for year round riding...warm and dry in the winter....and cool (enough anyway) for the summer.

I use two pair of BMW boots and a pair of Harley boots depending on the occassion. The BMW Airflow's are used in the hot summer months and the other pair of BMW boots are fully waterproof and insulated goretex lined leather thingys. These rarely get used unless it is really cold and really wet. If I was riding to Melbourne in the winter months, I would use these boots.

The traditional square toe Harley boots with ankle straps get used for most other times like now when it is not too hot but not cold either. Now does anyone want to know about my socks? Davo :-D
