Well, still no idle when Rocket warmed up, was wondering if it is a big deal to disconnect the pcIII and see what happens but not really sure how to do it, or should i leave it to the dealer to try.. any suggestions? :???:

Thinking about a tuneboy, need someone to install and tune it also... all these problems...and no solutions...

It is very simple to do. You simply need to disconnect the wiring harness from underneath the gas tank and disconnect the O2 bypass sensor. I have some pics in my photo album that might help you a little. On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being simple and 10 being extremely hard I would give this a 1 or a 2.

Uh, I forgot to say reconnect the original connections when you disconnect the PC and O2 bypass sensor. That will be important . You will want to disconnect the battery too when you do this. Don't want to chance hurting the electronics on this bike.

Thanks Vonbonds, and the pictures do help. Wasn't sure if there was any hard wiring done. Doesn't look like it. guess its just plug and unplug...Looks like you have the PC-III also, have you had any problems with idle when warm. My problem is that i dont want to disconnect if the problem is not related to the PC-III. As you know, they are not cheap when you include tuning on the Dyno. And the results were good, just don't like the "no idle" thing, very disturbing.

I had idle problems until I got the 20054 tune uploaded (I previously had the 56 tune). That has fixed my idle issues so far. I disconnected my PCIII because my fuel mileage just went into the tank. My bike has nearly 24K miles on it now and I just do too many miles to get 26-27mpg. I am not sure what I will do my with the PCIII. I might give it to another RAT member at my local pack if I don't try to sell it on ebay.

Did you change the Triumph tune before or after you removed the PCIII?

Did you read on the Tuneboy thread that SteveRed got a Tuneboy and that Tuneboy Wayne dynoed his bike with Tuneboy? It wasn't clear exactly what was going on but it sounded like the bike had a PCIII with a zero map. They linked some dyno runs.

SteveRed's Tuneboy dyno runs

The results show the best map was a modified 20050. The stock 20050 map was almost as good but the 20054 map was the worst. It still isn't clear to me that the PCIII was just passing through the Triumph stock tunes. I believe SteveRed has the Staintune mufflers and cat bypass.

Anyway, my dealer's bike has 2 TORs and 1 stock muffler and cat bypass and he dynoed his bike at 142 hp, 151 ft. lbs. using something other than the 20054.

I'd definitely like to try the Tuneboy with SteveRed's best map and the stock 20050. I hear that Wayne is going to publish maps for all of the Rocket exhaust configurations.

I actually did read his thread. I removed the PCIII before I got my new tune. I ran with the '56 tune for a few weeks before I got into my dealer. As far as performance goes my "butt" dyno can't tell any difference between the '54 and the '56 tune. I do get a lot less back firing with the '54 tune and my idle problems have gone away so far. I have hit stop and go traffic three days in a row now on I-95 so I assume it is all clear. I am sure what Wayne from Tuneboy says is correct about how goofy the Triumph tunes are so when he releases his product I will probably get it one day and fiddle away.

Do you have the TORs with cat bypass? I do and I believe they put the 20054 tune in, which is what Triumph say to do. The only problem I have is backfiring in the pipes. Apparently from Wayne's dyno runs, I could do better.

Yes, I have 3 TORs on with the cat by-pass. My dealer put in the 56 tune thinking that was the correct one. As it turns out they were wrong :hammer:

Its been awhile but I have a question about the PCIII.

I have one installed and it has been fine until recently. My idle has been dropping off and have had it stall a few times. I have been running it since January. I live in western PA and like I said it has been fine. Could the temperature changes this time of year cause this? It can change from 38F in the morning to 75F in the afternoon.

I am having it Dyno tuned Friday. Will this help at all or am I wasting my money.

For your info I have cat bypass, K&N air cleaner, and Maddogs with original tune in the ECU and the Jardine tune in the PCIII. I will say that the Jardine tune increased my MPG from 170 miles per tank to 200 miles per tank.
