I just removed my rear wheel and had the tire replaced. When I took the wheel off the drive hub was not secured in by the big circlip as referenced by the Triumph manual. It just dropped out of the wheel.

Now I had my rear end replaced under the recall but I cannot see why they would have to remove that circlip. Has anyone else removed their rear wheel and not found that circlip? Is it really needed or just there so the hub stays with the wheel when you remove it from the bike?

Thanks for the input in advance

Hate to see any post go un-responded too, it appears your question stumped the panel.

I removed my tire a few thousand miles ago to get a new tire put on. I don't remember anything out of place so I assume it was on the wheel. I take pictures of everything, I wish I took one of that now . I will next time I remove the wheel.

Even my dealer who did the rear end recall doesn't know if that circlip was there or not. They were no help whatsoever. I called a dealer close to me (Simi Triumph) and they were going to contact Triumph and try to get the answer. If anyone has taken off their own tire and that drive hub just fell out then the circlip was not there. From what I can tell it is only used so when you take off the wheel the hub won't just fall out and damage the drive gear on the end when it hits the floor. Once bolted in it is not needed. I will keep you informed. And thanks again to Simi Valley Triumph/Yamaha for the extra help and going the extra mile.

I just removed my rear wheel....for the third time....circlip is there and this is the first time I have noticed it. It is sort of hidden deep in the hub. You have to make a point of looking for it. Thanks for the heads up on this.
