My name is Larry, I have been lurking in the shadows for some time now, checkin out the info on the Rocket 3.

I finally took the plunge this past weekend and went for a test ride on a Rocket.

To put it as simple as possible, WOW...This bike is awsome!

I am a pretty big guy at 6' 4" (350 lbs) Finding a bike to fit my big arse is hard to do, but the Rocket showed me who was boss, with power to spare. I cannot wait to get one of my own.

I will continue to lurke for a few more months, (got some bills to finish off) then I will be making another visit to the Triumph dealer..

Thanks for the info I have picked up so far....Take it easy.

Welcome Larry. One thing for sure you could load a Rocket down like a pack mule and you wouldn't slow it down.

You must have been thinking about this for quite some time as you joined the forum Nov of last year. Well good for you.
I hope to hear from you in a few months, but don't feel like you got to get a Rocket to participate here.....feel free to jump in anytime!

Larry,

Look closely at the 2005 to the 2006 models, IMHO there are a couple of changes to the 06 model that might make the 05 more comfortable. I understand the handlebars are pulled back and more narrow along with changes to the foot boards. I haven't rode an 06, but from what I recall from my reading these changes are intended to satisfy the more average sized rider. I might opt for an 05 with some of the 06 accessories - the new touring seat, back rest etc. Also budget $400 for a set of shocks. I went with Progressive HD 13.5 inch. This raised the seat height about 1/2 inch and provides rear seat travel. I am continually amazed at how well my 6'9" 310 frame sits this bike. It is certainly worth waiting for....

Thanks for the friendly reception guys.

Yes, I have been looking at the Rocket for some time now, It all started when one of the guys in my Magna Forum took a test ride and posted his thoughts, Thats what brought the Rocket to my attention.

I had been up to my local dealership and sat on one of the floor models and knew then I liked it, he received the demo unit just a few months ago...been putting it off.

I have sat on both the 05 and 06, My test ride was on an 06, I felt very comfortable with reach and leg placement. At this point...I just want a Rocket!

My only question at this time is whether to go with a standard or a classic?? I like the idea of the floor boards and two tone paint. But the demo unit I rode had blue paint with the tribal grapics...Very sharp. I will figure it out when the time comes.

Larry,
Welcome to the R3 forum. As a new member myself I have just purchased an 06 red R3. I had the same reaction when I first rode the R3- I just had to buy it. In fact it's hard to stay off the bike. Good luck.
