hello all, I was just wondering if I'm nuts. I bought a bonnie T100 in December, brand new. Not to brag...Just got a good raise at work, I'm lusting over these beasts you all ride. Shoud I
A) shut the hell up and enjoy my Bonnie
B) lose my a$$ on a trade in and get the Rocket 3
C) suck it up and buy the Rocket 3 and keep the Bonnie
Thoughts, oh masters of torque?

I had a 2004 Bonnie before I test drove a 2005 Rocket, sold the Bonnie within 2 weeks, and ordered a Rocket. It was the power that done me in.
You could shut the hell up and enjoy your Bonnie. In most ways, it's a perfect bike. It handles much better than the Rocket.
You really need to test drive a Rocket. It's a lot more stable at high speeds on the highway, especially when it's windy. The power will blow you away.
You will lose your ass on trade, so if you can afford it, keep both.

You will get crushed on a trade in. If you can afford it add to your stable. If you can't then enjoy your T100. That is a beautiful bike and such a different machine than the Rocket. I have a Thunderbird Sport and I enjoy riding it a lot. Even though the Rocket has some incredible attributes you can still have tons of fun on other bikes too .

If it's a just-like-new 2006 Bonnie you should not lose your a$$ but of course you're not going to get your money back either. NOW would be the time to sell if that's what you're going to do.
Myself, traded my beloved '98 T'bird in on the Rocket because dealer offered more for it than I could get selling it outright (he was actually discounting the Rocket which was unusual in the summer of 2004 when they were first out--I think he also had a buyer for the 'bird because he sold it real fast).
I've regretted letting the T'bird go and one of these days plan to put another one by the Rocket when I find the right specimen. So if you really like the Bonnie my advice is hang onto it and get the Rocket too. It's only money and you can't take it with you--can't take bikes either but which one is more fun while you're here?

I forgot an option
D) Drop a 904 cc kit, some headwork, a cam, and some aftermarket carbs on the bonnie, totalling a couple grand yet bumping it up around 90rwhp

Forget (D)...if you want a faster bike, BUY a faster bike! Actually, I've been told by several sources that you NEED a minimum of 3 bikes! 1 for riding, 1 for "polishing" & 1 for "wrenching." You would have 2 of the 3. At minimum, everyone needs a "back up". Face it man, you NEED 'em BOTH! Buy the Rocket!!!!!! You're half-way there :hammer:

It's a tough choice. The Rocket is the premier cruiser without doubt or debate among those who've actually ridden one, however, it isn't the best "all-arounder" simply because it's a BIG bike....though what "all-arounder" means to one person isn't the same as what another sees.
At the end of the day it comes down to YOU as the rider. Bikes mimit our riding "personalities"...you may THINK you're a cruiser rider, but find at some point you aren't. You have to evaluate the "why" inside yourself--why you ride, what you derive from riding, etc.
A guy who likes to cruise, who enjoys the sudden blast of acceleration, and doesn't care too much about quick transitions through curves will probably find the Rocket a perfect choice.
Another person who enjoys challenging the twisties, likes the sensation of catapult launches even without deliberate input, may well find another type of bike is better suited to his riding "persona".
A Bonneville is a completely different kind of ride...lighter, and more nimble than the Rocket, but not possessed of the Rocket's off-line blast.

Test ride the Rocket III with an open mind, Sweatmachine. Not just a 10' warm-up around the dealer's yard. Take it through twisties. Find an empty road to rev-it-up... and do a few parking manoeuvers with it ... and THEN, but only then, decide on A, B or C. Best wishes
