Stinky Rocket

Early last week, I washed and polished the Rocket up real nice. The weather has been awesome here so I've been riding to work every day. The day after I washed it, I was riding home and I could smell burning. I couldn't figure out what it was, but it STUNK! Every time I stopped at an intesection, the smell would come up to me. I looked and looked for two days, thinking it may be electrical, but it didn't really smell like it. I thought it might be the soap I used and I didn't rinse something? Well, I finally found the source. A June bug had got caught under the header pipe covers and was frying! Yuck!

Yum! I didn't know what was going on.. hahaha.. It didn't smell overheated or like an electrical problem, or burning oil.. All, I could think was "What the hell stinks on my bike?!"

I get that when I clean my bike too. I believe it is probably the soap and/or wax that gets underneath the header covers. It burns off pretty quickly so the smell goes away after a 30 minute ride or so.

Oh yeh! No mistaking a burning Texas Bug caught in radiator or elsewhere. Been there done that. And since I don't plan on riding indoors or leaving Texas I will be smelling more of those crispy critters.
