So far, the pegs look rust free. Had the bike since 07/04.

Dots of rust in a few places on the chrome , and footpegs .
having a few items replaced under warranty shortly , almost a days labour to do .

A little bit of rust at the junction where the peg mounts to the bike... Just clean it off and give it a spray of WD40 or similar spray lube/oil.

I live next to the ocean. Even with bike,s parked in house they still can rust up. So what i do is buy WD40 in 4lt container,s and spray whole bike, keeping away from brake,s. I then wipe bike down with a cloth and that,s it. ! I ride bike like that, it collect,s dust etc but it protect,s bike. About every fornight i wash bike and polish then about week later hit it with spray again. All me mate,s used to give me a hard time about it until there bike,s started rusting, now they all do it ! I also have a couple car,s in storage that i have done the same with and they are still like new. I recommend using the container method as the spray is a lot more oiler then to use the can,s. Also is hasn,t effected the paint in any way like some people though it might.

Got mine 07/04 too
footpegs,toe guards , rear f/peg chrome mounts

All down to corrosion

Sorry for you, sincerely. Mine, Oct. '04, ridden throughout two Swiss winters on salty roads and only getting a once-a-month shampoo. No corrosion whatsoever :???:

Jamie
Still consider myself lucky to own an R111
despite corrosion.
Went out today, got back just before hail storm
silly grin in place as usual.
