Last few weekends we been riding the putty road i used to travel up there a lot in the truck ..Its a nice section of road from windsor to singleton about 100 miles return trip for me the road itself hasnt chaged much in the last 25 years...except for the amout of motorcycles that use the putty road ...its a great ride it offers long straights and long uphill runs down to some tight twistys...but last sunday was differnt ...as we nearing the halfway house we came upon a crash scene a fallen rider .. broken leg and skin off .. but what was not so good was there No cell coverage in that location so we rode to half way house and rang the ambulance.. he said he was going a lil too fast for that corner... his son and a few of his mates were up ahead and as we talked to him they had returned to look for him you could see by the marks on the road leading to gravel on side he had panicked and braked too hard mid corner ..that an mabe a case of trying to keep up with his sons ...he was riding a kawasaki . we left him as his son and mates arrived and rode to the half way house had a pie n coffe there 20 minutes later the Highway patrol were flashing past on there way to the scene followed by an ambulance ..
seems the putty road is getting way too busy for weekend riders..

Nice pic Rob. Only been there once... on way home to Noosa with the missus, wait for it... riding an Electra Glide. Slow and sloshy but still good fun. Liked the twisties at the Singleton end.

As I remember it was midweek, we were the only bike there and we pulled in about morning smoko time for a toasted sandwich!

That day we came across an accident as well, about 10 mins after leaving our Windsor motel. Three mates on high powered sportsbikes. One guy sitting dazed on side of road being comforted by mates. Boney mass of shredded knee poking through lightweight cotton trousers, stuffed shoulder, much bark off arms and torso, GSXR wrecked barely beyond recognition. Michelle, an ER nurse about to render assistance but then ambo appeared so we left it to the experts. Funny thing was it was halfway up a gently uphill straight section of road. Who knows how these things happen? Davo

was up there a few weeks back...its one of the last good rides left where you can do 100k/h speedlimits.....we also came across a fallen rider on a GSX, he was the last in a bunch trying to stay up....he was ok butthe bike had most of the fairing ripped off....the lesson here is to ride within capabilities....but weekend warriors on their croutch rockets...usually wearing jeans....are often riding way beyound what they can are capable of....

The sad part is its a nice road . to have a bit of a Fang But over confidence killed the cat I know there is a fine line between pleasure and pain .. but why make it your last ride !! and lets face it most who do buy Rockets just cant help it to give her a fang now n agian )) I know i do !!
Not good to hear or see a fallen rider hope the guy on suzuki was ok davo and ice.... ahh dave on a lectro glyde i hear ya LOL I did the snowy ride 3 years ago on a Fatboy, Raked 45 degrees and 4 inch extended Forks U had to get ur lines right on her and look for bumps to throw you offline )
way to ride them is if they start to scrape keep scraping dont back off and run wide ...
this is a pic of my old fatboy with my pal garry with his arse on it !
