After reading various posts/info finally went to the dealer to check the tune.....bike came with cat & tor's...I put the by pass on...it seemed to run ok....tune was a 53...computer said it needed a 54.....does make a difference...better throttle and less popping.

also learned that part of the issue is taking the download at stone cold temp....was there for a few hours until the engine temp reached cool enough to do the down load....svc.mgr. said that all the various tunes are already in the computer....just have to tell it which one to run....one of the problems with DIY power commander, etc. is they just trick the ecm into what to run rather than what it actually needs as it colates engine temp, outside temp, etc etc.....
times have changed.....I guess it's now start it, run it, if it stops, find a shop....I miss the 60's

I was just wondering the same thing. I put on a set of Maddogs and cat bypass today and haven't gotten a new tune. Like everyone else and their brother I have been waiting for the Tuneboy to come out. I went for a short ride today and noticed a popping. I guess I should get a new tune.

for sure Pig you need a new tune. I'm told, depending on what year you have, they come with a basic tune (US models), it was a 48 but they don't use that one any longer. You would need the 54 I would think with your mods. Also learned something interesting....the new models come with no tune installed, therefore, you can not start the bike. Seems this takes care of some dealer's practice of ordering stock and selling same in the crate at a discount without ever checking the bike. Now it has to pass through a dealer prep just to get a tune loaded in so it will run.

It will probably backfire with the 20054 tune as well.
