I'm picking up a new "wassat?" on the R3. Whenever I get the girl up to about 88mph, I pick up a high-freq vibration that has already dislodged two fillings in my teeth. First thought it was a wheel balance issue, til I pulled in the clutch at speed and the vibes stopped. It's in the engine. Anyone else see this kinda thing happen on your bike?

Thanks.

Mine had that buzz at about 80 mph for the first few hundred miles. After about 1k it smoothed out. Now I can do 130 and still see things in my rear view mirror.

I noticed that too Mike... Made my ears ring after everyride!! After a few hundred miles and aftermarket pipes etc etc... The ringing is down to a mild buzz that you only hear if you tune into it. Psydone was so worried about his whine he had a couple of us Captains ride out with him to check it out and assure him he wasn't going crazy

mmm, failed to put wassat in my post about "squeal, whine etc"

88mph seems fairly cranking for a similar noise but might be it... Ear plugs my friend ear plugs.

Sheepishly I persued this alot and it drove me fairly batty, I'm now in a lessoned learned phase of wisdom ITS BLOODY HUGE ITS GOTTA MAKE SOME NOISE.

Ah how refreshing it feels to be on the other side of the conversation lol.

Oh, well... ear plugs will, after all, help filter out the wind noise as I'm vibrating down the highway.

Figure I better just get used to this speedo-clicking, valve-clacking, idle-bouncing, filling-extracting, brake-clunking symphony of "character" and enjoy the scenery as it blurs past... at 88mph or more.

Be safe.

Mike whenever I start having any doubts about the Rocket I just go for a ride, park her anywhere in the public eye and get my fill of "Nice Bike"... "Awesome Bike"... etc etc.

Today I clocked up a dozen or so comments as I was doing some running around. If I wasn't married I reckon I would've taken home one pretty girl who was just begging for a ride!

This bike has muscle, character and BALLS... so what if it snores and farts a bit!??

- My sheepish red face robyyy.

I'm forever indebted to the R3 community for listening to noises, anyone needs me to listen I'll be there.

I remember looking at buying a Valkyrie before the Rocket. I did the usual research by visiting all the Valk sites, reading every thread I could absorb. I was astonished by the various comments owners make about vibrations, clanging, snorting, popping, whining(lots of whining ha ha) etc, etc. I imagine most bikes have their "noised".

What if our cars were not insulated and we heard everything going on in the power-train, suspension, etc. We'd all go bonkers in no time.

Relax and enjoy! Focus on the fun this great bike brings. If you still think the bike is in dire straights, take it to the shop. Life's too short to focus in on a noise. If you are not sure there's cause for alarm then just kick back and soak up the many pleasures of bike ownership.

As far as ear plugs go, if you don't plan on hearing your grand kids or for that matter anyone else, by all means leave the ear plugs out. You will surely be master of your own world in no time flat!!

It's raining today in the Heartland so it's time to install my newly purchased chrome exhaust flange covers. Lately I've been thinking more about the Rocket than my family.....hope they understand........
