Who's got them?

I am riding up north to Rivco tomorrow to pick up a set and want to make sure that there are no pitfalls with this setup before I get them.

Thanks

I think most Rocket riders who have them put this upgrade into their top 3 list. I know it is in mine. It made a fun bike into a touring bike for me. I couldn't have put on the miles I have no without them (22,300) in the past 19 months.

I just put on Valkyrie handlebars at the suggestion of some of the Captains. Easy to do and much more comfortable and the bike drives better. I could not use the end weights so I filled the first 4 inches at each end of the bars with lead shot. I don't know if that did anything but anyway I like the ride a lot better than I did with the Triumph long horns on it.

Here's a couple of shots of my son Austin the poser on a 2005 with Rivco risers on stock 2005 bars. Note how the cables and wires get routed. The only time the wires get near the tank is when you have wheel turned as if you are going to lock it. To prevent any possible rubbing I took some plastic lens protector film from a newly purchased helmet shield and put in on the tank. It's clear and hard to see, and stays put.

I guess you either like the feel of swept back bars or you like the feel of more perpendicular bars. I like the feel you get when you rest your hands on perpendicular bars, as apposed to holding on like you're milking a cow. It's what you feel most comfortable with.

For a reference my son the is 6'1.5" with an arm inseam of 35". He is sitting with bike level and feet on ground.

Jeff, sounds like your son is a "chip of the old block"... do you have that saying over there? Means he's like his old man, real tall and probably still growing!

Rockethead, there are no "pitfalls" with the Rivco risers except that they will do away with shoulder pain, neck cramp, wrist ache and probably fix yer bunions as well! :-D :-D

Seriously mate, they're the "dogs bollocks" to quote an ex-pat pommie mate of mine.

One of the first things I noticed when I first sat on my 2006 Rocket was that the bars were a little low and forward. I put the risers on and couldn't be happier. PS - I am 6'3" tall, so maybe that's why they seemed low.

Thanks guys, my neighbor has a venture and he put different bars on it and had the stock bars laying around so we checked them out and they put the stock postition back by 2 1/2 inches. Needles to say the bars came off and the venture bars went on, no need for the risers and I saved a trip to Rivco... It works great with my custom backrest that we fabbed up last weekend, now I am ready for my trip to Florida in a couple of weeks. Tunes, gps, xmradio, airhorns and now the bars all in one week. I am done for now, I think...

I have Road King Classic bars and they work great. The grips are closer together than the stock bars with the Rivco risers.

Unless you lean forward, there's no point in having wide perpendicular bars. I lean back so I like the bars back and closer together.
