Does anyone know of any articles comparing the two options. I am aware that the Supercharger will give more RWHP but is it more labour intensive to set up? The Turbo is apparently a simple operation.
TTS are offering the supercharger for 2500 GBP which equates to around $6000 aussie dollars. Whereas the Turbo fromthe states is USD$5300 which equals $7300 aussie shekels.
I have heard good reports on this formum re the Turbo, anyone got reports ont he Supercharger???
All feedback greatfully accepted and tax deductible.... :flam:

Something to consider, the turbo will spool-up gently, then get aggressive, very aggressive. The supercharger will be very agressive immediately, like NOW. The turbo is hidden away, the blower is hanging off of the right side, pretty far out. If you want to surprise 'em, get the turbo. If you wanna' scare 'em get the blower. Performance wise they are very close. Just be sure either unit has a timing retard unit, a good one, or you will kiss the motor good-bye in a heart beat. Both units blow hot air, that causes detonation, espscially in hot weather, that's why we call 'em hair dryers here.

As an aside, superchargers DON"T give more power than a turbocharger.
I don't know of a supercharger that will give better than 15psi [and usually under 10psi].
Turbos will give 15psi easily and can be run up to 30psi.
In Japan, they have drag racing with turbocharged cars that are into the high 5's, low 6's and they are [wait for this] under 3 litres engine capacity.
I realise that this is not as fast as USA drag racing etc, BUT for the size of the engine it is something else.
Yes, superchargers have no lag, they are immediate, they go hard fast.
Turbochargers have lag, they get very very busy as revs [and exhaust gas velocity] build. They have a top end rush.

I have no real experience with either... but I have heard that the turbo setup comes with an upgraded clutch.... I don't know if the supercharger kit has that, you might want to check. If not, it would mean extra dollars.
Also... the turbo has its own engine management system that requires a fair amount of rewiring.. so not really a simple install.

Hmmmm, I got 55 psi out of a GMC 6-71 and there was lots more to go. Just keep overdriving the blower, it'll make what ever power you want. In fact some aa-fuel dragsters really overdrive the blower, so much so, that the engine is used soley for the purpose of driving the blower, the blower is actually the "air pump" part of the engine. Hows about 6,000 hp from 600 cubes? Turbos can deliver what ever boost you want as can a blower. Both can deliver 80 lbs or more, ask me how I know......Size Matters....

Great feedback! I will have to do more research on each. Thanks for the advice. The Turbo is attractive from many angles, if it comes with clutch all the better. I like the idea of the building power of a turbo. sounds like it can still be tamely ridden at low revs then whammo>>>>
thanks again....
