Mmmm... Just had the best spare ribs and chicken wings I have ever tasted. I live in a little village suburb just out of Sydney and the new guy in town is an expat Texan who has opened up a TEXAS BBQ restaraunt... DELICIOUS!!! Couple that with Aussie beer (the best in the world!) and you have a winning combination.

You gave us Outback Steakhouse we give you Texas BBQ, tit for tat! :-D

Remember the name of the BBQ joint?

What your favorite Aussie beer?

Had an Aussie beer years ago that used water from a sulpher spring. Made your burps taste like farts. An acquired taste for sure.

Even though i like KC BBQ alot, I do not care for our "sweet" sauce.

I know I'll get flamed but a scorched a$$ among Friends is tolerable. When I lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado I managed a one horse outfit in the mid 1980's called Hickory House located on South Academy Blvd. Anyway the owner was from West Texas and I never had sauce as good as I did from him. It's more vinegary than sweet and spicier than Kansas City style. I kept the recipe' too!

OK let the flaming begin!

PS I sure wish I could find a place that makes BBQ beef ribs in the KC area. Hint Hint :hammer:

You go to too many chain resturants... they keep it sweet to appeal to the masses. :-D :-D :-D

We will hit the BBQ Blaze Off in Septemebr in Blue Springs. It is the Superbowl of BBQ competitions. If you haven't won your States title you won't even get invited. This is where you find those "special" BBQ places that are off the beaten path.... Oddly, most people there aren't from Colorado Springs.. Colorado Springs??? You were eating Rocky Mountain Oysters.....

Just Kidding... I'm fairly certain you'll be allright.

What is this (To be said with the thickest Southern Drawl you can muster)?:

"HI, May I help you????"

There is a reason for that... those ribs are usually attached to a (small end) standing rib roast... quite possibly the most expensive cut of meat at the store. If you call ahead and wire lots of money most places will get 'em for ya..

We should do a couple BBQ runs this summer... I'm sure we could find someplace that's tangy enough for ya..

BTW its Ollie Gates....

Texas Masterpiece?? Colorado Springs Masterpiece?? No, its KC Masterpiece. :-D :-D (I agree... too sweet)

G'day,

"You gave us Outback Steakhouse we give you Texas BBQ, tit for tat!"

As good as Outback Steakhouse is, I can tell you as an OZ living in the USofA that it ain't Australian. It is, actually, a US company.

We always take visiting Aussies there when the come over. It gives them a good laugh. e.g. Botany Bay Salmon. That North Atlantic salmon sure swam a long way to get caught. :-D It would be like a Murray River Trout caught off Manhatten.

:hammer:

Having said all that, they still cook a good steak.

That doesn't surprise me! My daughter once went to Italy. On her return she said, Dad, the pizzas down in Lygon Street (Melbourne) are 10 times better than the garbage they call pizzas in Italy!!! I guess it depends what you grew up with!

Another one. The catch phrase "put another shrimp on the barbie' is as I understand, a common depiction within the US of Aussie lingo yet the funny thing is, I never hear anybody say that here!

You're all dirty rotten scoundrels IMHO! Davo

Ha Ha... Anyway we call Shrimp "PRAWNS"...

We do have 'Lone Star' here and "The Keg" etc... This little one that just opened her is a one horse outfit and his ribs are tasty and meaty... The wings are either Hot & Spicy or Garlic & Honey. He has a real simple menue and a very basic fit out.

The best beer in OZ is a very arguable point from state to state but it sure as hell aint FORSTERS which is sold all over the world and is the equivalent of say Millers or BUD. I like Thooheys OLD for a dark beer with my steak or Coopers Pale ale lighter meals. Hahn or James Boag are pretty good as well.
