I have come to the conclusion that modifying a second hand set of stock silencers, that I still think look the best, will give me at low cost what I want in terms of increased exhaust volume without being a loud as the TORs and without having 'for off road use' on them and hopefully bearable decel popping. I have read some older posts on the topic on drilling holes in the first and second baffle plates with a long drill but would appreciate more precise details on how to go about it? Also, do I then need the tune for the TORs to be safe or will the one I have for the cat box removal do for it?

If you look in the older threads, somebody has pics of holes drilled in the mufflers. I drilled 6, 1/4 inch holes through both outer end plate and inner baffle of muffler. I had cat-bypass pipe and ran 20054 tune. The holes added a little more volume, that was good for a while. I soon needed more and went with the TORs.

Hi drtim
Thanks for the advice TORs popping is too much for me but I will go for the 20054 tune to be safe
After removing end cap and drilling 1st baffle plate did you get holes into the second one below this?
If so how long a drill does it take?
What was decel popping like with the richer 20054 tune?

I had a bit 6 inches long. I think I had to choke it out a little in the chuck. The inner baffle wall is light gage so it doesn't take much to drill through. Drill the first hole in the outer plate then insert a poker or scew driver till you feel it hit the inner baffle to get the depth.

Thanks drtim. Spare stock exhausts arrived today. I got them second hand for $100 so its turned out to be a very cheap option. I will check as you suggest and get a long enought 1/4 inch drill and the 20054 tune. Thanks for the advice.
