Hi Walt, The Corbin seat is more comfortable than the stock seat but I can't comment on the differance between the Corbin and the Triumph gel seat though. The Corbin may be too firm for some riders. I have done about five hours in one day on the Corbin and my backside was starting to get sore. The R3T is going to make you stop every 150 to 200 miles to refuel so you'll get a break. The backrest has alot of adjustment but you cant do it on the move. Must use an allen wrench and I've had to use migrating locktight on the screws to keep the adjustment from changing. The backrest folds down flat against spring pressure to allow you to swing your leg over. The dual temp heating element is really nice on those cold mornings. It stays on for one hour and then you must reset it. Wired the way Corbin says it can be turned on with the key off so the seat will be warm when your ready to ride but it will shut off if you get side tracked and won't kill the bat. It could be easily wired differantly though. All seats with the heating element will have the same stitch pattern on the seating surfaces to keep the elements from moving. When ordering the seat they ask your instep measurement so they can adjust seat hieght to allow you to place your feet flat on the ground. The problem with all the custom seats is cost and just sitting on one for a few minutes is not going to let you know what your buns are going to feel like after 400 miles. It installs with just the rear fastener, instead of the three like the stock seat.

Hello all !

Just joined the forum and wanted to say Hi ! I just recently traded my pride and joy 66 Galaxie convt. for a 2005 rocket III (along with another car that I have sold). Plans are to change the exhaust, and add a cruise and who knows what else. I did want to know, if I change the exhaust, do I have to do any thing such as have it tuned or anything? Thanks,
Jeff.

Greetings from CO

I'm a guy who sold his last bike in the Fall last year (an '07 HD Street Glide) and am now wondering what to get. While I do love the the '09 HD touring line, I am soooo tired of the crazy price...and frankly of the fact they are now stinkin EVERYWHERE.

Over the years, I've had 3 HD's, a couple of large displacement Hondas (VTX 1800's) , an old Suzuki (GS850G), and one Yamaha (XS1100). But as much as I like the HD, I swear every Tom, Dick, and Harry now seem to ride them. It has really now become a Superstore cliche out there with those bikes...they're just pouring out of the suburbs every weekend headed down to my rougher more 'edgy' neighborhood...cracks me up.

Aaaanyway, after riding for 25+ years...I am struggling with what my next ride should be. I have looked hard at the Yamaha Roadliner and even recently the Royal Star and Road Star...but just can't get over the Japanese working so hard to look like everything else that is trying to look like the HD...excellent quality for sure, but it's all about what the market wants of course.

For me, I don't want to be part of that same (now massssive) crowd. Don't get me wrong...I am a huge believer in just getting on two wheels and riding..whatever you ride...we're all out there together for sure. But the whole dress-up and posing thing is just out of control, IMHO.

Aaaanyway...sheesh.

I never thought I'd be looking so seriously at the ROCKET lll, but there is something about them...for sure it's the "uniqueness" drawing me. I just hope I don't learn..as I start reading and asking questions...that there are really some big issues with these things (trannys?). I do take it all with a grain of salt as people who have issues are typically more likely to tell people than those who don't...but still.

OK...enough for now. Look forward to learning what I can about the Rocket...looking for encouragement and advice for sure.

Sgn

Welcome SGN,

I like your choices so far, the Strat/Roadliner are fine mounts to be sure and the aftermarket for them is much better then it is for Triumph.

That siad it still boils down to what you like in a bike and how you ride. The Rocket offers A stile all its owne not to mention the satisfaction of knowing you have one of the most powerfull steads on the road for (not if but when) the need for power comes up.

So good luck with your search and keep us posted.

Walt

Welcome to the forum, SGN. Another good thing about the Rocket is when you park it beside Harleys and you come out and they are all gawking at your ride. Some have asked, what the h is that locomotive? I love mine.

Bought a 2009 R3T today!

This is Dan from San Diego. Oh, man, I'm pretty excited, as you all can imagine. Sold my '99 Nomad on Sunday (goodbye, ol' friend) and dropped a roll of cash on a Blue on Blue '09 Touring model. Fresh from Triumph, right out of the crate.

I reserached all sorts of bikes before I ended up with the Rocket 3,a nd more specifically, the R3 Touring. I spent a lot of time on this site, too! Went to several different dealers within a 150-mile radius shopping for the best price and service and ended up buying locally for a couple of different reasons.

I'll be looking for the MUST HAVE accessories right away. Ideas? Cover, alarm, highway pegs, windshield bag, etc.

Photos posted soon.

Dan -

Glad to have you on board with the R3T. The only thing that I have added to mine are the windshield lock and the passenger backrest. The great thing about the bike is that it comes fully customized for what I would have added to a different bike. The passenger backrest is a must if you ever ride two up.

Great to hear from you,

Dinger

New r3 owner

Just ordered a new R3 which will be my first cruiser after 22 years of sports bike and the last 3 being 1050 triumphs.
Found the r3 a breath of fresh air and should have done this years ago! Roll on next week when its delivered!
