Hi, to the newer members my name is David Pearce (Aka Aussiebikerdave [sub-aka Davo]) and I live at Noosa on the Sunshine Coast just north of Brisbane, Qld, Australia. Our only claim to fame is our weather which unfortunately gets so cold in the depths of winter that we have to wear a jacket. Otherwise it's as the television tourists ads say, "beautiful one day, perfect the next!" I ride one of the very first black Rockets to arrive on our shores and it's now done over 40,000kms without a problem and like the wife, it still amazes me with it's enticing looks and heaving horsepower everytime I... er, climb aboard. What? did I say somit wrong? Davo :-D

Hey everyone, finally getting around to introducing myself, sorry it took so long.. Name is Gary Weaver and i live in Central Florida, USA. I have been riding mc's for a long time, started out on Kawi 900 back in 75, and from there went on to many jap bikes including gpz1100, zx11, hd lowrider, hd bagger with N2O(nitrous), bmw k1200ltc, now the big bad rocket. Always loved to race and do burnouts. I have been to Laconia, Sturgis, Murtle Beach, Phoenix Bikeweeks, Watkins Glen, Lime Rock, Sebring, Laguna Seca, and now Daytona. (to name a few)

Glad to be a part of this forum, everyone is very nice and knowlegable. Look forward to talking to everyone and learning more about Triumph and the Rocket...and sharing what i know.

Just traded in the 05 R3 on an 06 R3 Classic. Much nicer ride. Moved over the powder coated stuff, also the backrest, and bags over from the 05. I really like the floorboards, handlebars, and better seat. Got Tuneboy, K&N, TOR's and removed the CAT.
Need more power still... but still unbeaten to this point. :chug:

I had posted this earlier in some other post but between then and now I managed to forget my password and had a heck of a time getting back in as a member, but I kept lurking.

I would also like to say HOWDY from Texas to everyone. I've been lurking mostly with just a couple of post. I'm still trying to figure out my way around this forum and I like what I've seen so far.

I bought my 05 Rocket in Feb. of 05 to compliment my 01 Legend. I love them both but the Rocket gets most of the attention when I'm trying to decide which one to ride. I've been riding for a little over 46 yrs. and probably about 90 plus % of the bikes I've owned have been British made with Triumph being way ahead of the others. Norton, BSA are the other brands from our English friends. Of course there were a few times on my BSA 441 Victor my thoughts and language weren't to complementary. Man that sucker could kick. I carried many bruises and a limp when it cleared its throat to remind me that it could pitch me over the handle bars with one quick bark.

Just a few lines about myself. I've been in the Oil & Gas industry since 68. My wife of 39 yrs. and I have 3 grown daughters and 6 grandkids (5 boys & 1 girl). We have lived in Texas 25 yrs. after coming down from Okla. I've lived and worked in Calif. WY., MS. We also share our home with 1 Yorkie and 1 Rottie (it was 2 but a couple of weeks before Christmas our female Rottie left us after sharing her love for 10 yrs with us). I enjoy group riding as well as solo. Long distance or short, it doesn't matter as long as I can ride.

Guess I'd better close for now and before I bore ya all to much.

Keep up the good work. I'm sure I'll have some questions in the future.

Ride and Stay Safe.
:hammer:

Another Texas Rocket!..

You were smart keeping your Legend. I made the mistake of selling my TBS last year and I do miss it alot. The good Rocket is filling in quite nicely though. I've been riding on the street for a good 20 some odd years. I got my M/C endorsement at 15 on a Triumph 500 chopper, and it's been in my blood pretty much ever since. I've had the "opportunity" to kick start a couple of 441 Victors too. I was just a teen then, and even though I could get them started, I was always scared

I was glad to see Triumphs back in production and that motivated me to get back in to biking after a 12 year hiatus. I bought an America in 2003 and than persuaded my wife that if I got a Rocket my20year old son and I could have more Quality time together! Actually that quality time did turn into alot of local trips along with membership in various clubs. My first rocket developed trans vibration problems . After several attempts at fixing the problem I'm on replacement bike. Triumph corp. have been a very prompt and courteous in taking care of the problem. I'm a group lead helicopter mechanic , maintaining and modifying special forces power train and drive train components . I love riding both of my bikes . I have made these upgrades to my Red 2005 rocket ; Factory bags (these required reinforcement panels in order to keep their shape),Handel bar risers(this moved my grips up 1" and back 2"),Factory exhaust mod (Realized an increase in performance , not to mention the intimidation factor when she starts up),Factory engine and rear dresser bars, windshield , road lights , fuel Gage , gel seat , clock kit , short sissy bar and luggage rack , fog light kit , axillary power socket , oil temp. gage (located in place of oil fill) ,and chrome oil reservoir tank(have not installed this yet). My rocket is alot of fun to ride . I have done alot of riding through the hills of Kentucky , where I live, along with Virgina and Tennessee . I feel better rear shocks are in the future along with bar mounted oil pressure , rad. fluid temp. gages. Normally I don't interact much with web. sites . Hope this wasn't to long winded!!

Hi all

I have been riding the shops bikes for a while now and have finally taken the plunge and bought a new R3 with lots of extras

The climate in South Africa is perfect for riding (no winter to speak of)

Triumph is the fastest growing brand in S.A and rightfully so

I would like to hear from others to hear what the highest mileage is on a Rocket !!!

Regards

HARTY

My first time to post. I purchased a '05 Cardinal Red R3 last April at Engle Motors in Kansas City. Only 2500 miles so far but it's been a dream to ride. I feel sorry for the guys I ride with who sit around a watch when we all stop somewhere and everyone wants to look, sigh and ask questions about the R3. Got to see another R3 a few weeks ago and we spent an hour comparing notes. You just can't explain how great the bike is until you own or ride one. I'm looking forward to meeting other R3 folks and finding out the latest and greatest things available.

Additions so far:

CHROME - Axle Nut Covers- Bolt Head Covers- Cam Tensioner- Handlebar Risers- Rocker Gear Lever- Engine Dresser Bars- Master Cylinder Cover- Drive Shaft Cover- Swing Arm Cover- Exhaust Flange Covers- Frame Cover Kit- Inspection Cover- Solo Rack- Clock- Fuel Gauge- Staintune 3/3 Exhaust and Collector

LEATHER - Tank Cover

ADDITIONAL - Auxilary Power Socket- Front End Fixing Kit- Roadster Screen- Driver Footboard Kit with Heel/Toe Shifter- Rear Footboards with Extension- Scott Performance Stainless Steel Oil Filter- K&N Air Filter - Black Pro Bolts Around Fuel Cap- Billet Aluminum Brake Caliper Covers Front/Rear- Stainless Front Brake Line Clamps- Beetle Bags- PIAA X-treme White H4 Headlight bulbs- Kuryakyn Large Mirrors

Hey, Welcome and compliments on your mount. Cardinal red used to be faster, i.e. until I repainted mine Jaguar Green
