When the phone rang this morning and I saw it was my dealer I thought it would have to be good news. It was back in November when I put a deposit down on a red and black Classic, so I have been dreaming of the moment I'd get this call. Good news they have a Classic in, bad news it's red and white not red and black. So I went down to the dealer to check it out anyway. If it was closer to summer I'd be tempted to take this one but we still have a month or two of winter weather left.
First impression was good. The seat is great. Very large, nice leather with double stitching and shaped comfortably. Felt good to sit on; only time will tell if it is as comfortable as it looks. Triumph had large American asses in mind when they designed this one.
The handlebars are noticeably longer than the other models. I went from the classic to a standard and could tell the difference right away. Alot more relaxed with the extra bar length. The speedo and tach are mounted about 2 inches further forward also. I guess so they can stay in place when lifting the tank.
The paint job was good. I really like the pin stripe. I don't know if it was the white color or the lines the colors follow but it makes the tank seem wider than the solid colors.
Can't wait.......I was happy to see one in person but it was one big tease. I guess maybe a little bit longer of living vicariously through the rest of you rocket owners.
