Yes, I have the downloads working for the Rocket and other new Triumphs using the Keihin ECU.
The secondary butterfly control is fun to play with, it has a map for this in each gear.
The ECU also has different ignition maps in the first couple of gears to limit power.
The software should be ready for people to use in a couple of weeks.
People with an existing TuneBoy cable will be able to use that to connect to the new ECU.

If it all comes together in a few weeks I'll be thrilled. I've been sitting on my cable for quite some time now hoping for the day because without ANY doubt Tuneboy and Tunedit ARE the hot ticket--once perfected.

I knew if I waited it would happen, Yee Haa. The powercommander offended my Engineer sensibilities, didn't seem quite the right way to do it

Can someone explain the differences between the Tuneboy and powercommander? I am unfamiliar with what the Tuneboy is or what this technology is trying to acheive. I currently have a powercommander with a custom dyno tune for my r3-what is the advantage to the tuneboy? Thanks!

speedmerlau here is a link to the page of the Tuneboy site that does a comparision between the two. The basic difference is the PCIII is an add on that fools the ECU. The Tuneboy actually reprograms the ECU. A lot more features and variables.

Tuneboy and Tunedit are much more than just a means to increasing performance. Unlike the powercommander which alters ECM outputs "downstream", Tunedit allows the basic ECM to be reprogrammed throughout its entire range. Tuneboy software is applicable to reading the basic operation of the ECM, and is a means by which a home mechanic can insure his bike is tuned according to spec...like having the Triumph diagnostic tool, as well as a means to create an almost endless variety of alterations.
Why this is important is because it fully opens the door for a DIY type. For instance, using Tuneboy along with the service manual it is possible to perform basic diagnostics and determine correct mechanical settings such as the idle stepper motor. One can also alter the timing of the cooling fan for better optimization.
Also, one can certainly play around with changing the fuel/air ratio "globally", or selectively, as well as changing ignition advance...completely eliminating the factory 7% restriction while retaining the useful function of the secondary butterflies.

Because the scope of Tuneboy and 'edit is so vast, one wonders why others haven't jumped on the bandwagon, though it you think about it, when you buy a Tuneboy cable and download the software you're cost is fixed, whereas the more expensive PC USB relies on added cost "tunes" which must be downloaded, and if not to your liking, swapped out for yet another...each one "set" for the most part, and PC doesn't offer the complete freedom from high-cost dealer visits in order to evaluate the basic operation.

On the other hand, Tuneboy and 'edit certainly require more thought input and time...though when it's perfected there will be downloadable tunes if one so chooses.

My dealer never heard of Tuneboy - neither has the Triumph shop in Sacramento.

Does Tune Edit show you the fuel/air map (e.g., 20054) like the PCIII does, i.e., each cell in the PC III map represents am RPM vs throttle position? How does this interact with a DynoJet dynamometer? My understanding is that each cell on the PCIII is set from a readout of the exhaust gas composition. This is controlled with the Dynojet software.

My dealer/mechanic is down with PC's on Harleys but hasn't put one on a Rocket yet..

If I buy the Tuneboy cable and software, put them on a laptop and hand it to my mechanic, will he be able to put the Rocket on the Dyno and maximize my 20054 map - even though he doesn't know squat about Tuneboy?
